My Haunted HomeA Story by Country Girl46I found an old cabin on the hill. Decided I would check into it and see if it was up for taxes. I loved the location, it had a beautiful view. You could see for miles across the hills and deep in the valley below. As I stepped into the courthouse to check in the records, I realized it was dirt cheap and grabbed it. Lo and behold, I never realized there was a story behind it and that's why it was never bought until I came along. There was a firm foundation, and the walls were solid, roof had no damage and began to fix it up. I had started to repaint the kitchen walls, after cleaning the cupboards, when I heard something start to rattle and shake. It had to be my imagination. There was no such thing as a ghost, or was there? Tried to shake it off and forget it, but kept lingering in my mind. I decided to head to the attic just to prove it wasn't true. The attic door was unlocked. Something wasn't right. It had been locked when I checked the place out a few days ago. Once again, something began to rattle and shake. I opened the door and climbed the steep, broken steps. When I looked up at the top of the stairs, I felt a rush of wind go by me. The door slammed below and couldn't open it. I screamed for help, but who would hear me? Nobody lived nearby except a family that built a home twenty miles away. How was I going to get out of here? Once again, the rattling and shaking began. I screamed, "Let me out of here!" A loud haunting voice said, "Welcome to Hell!" Blood began seeping through the side walls, drops of blood from the ceiling hit my face. I kept pounding at the door, trying to break it free. As I tried to push hard one more time, the door flew open and I landed on the floor, hitting my head on the side of the bed. Blood was running down my face, felt dizzy, stumbled to the door, calling for help. I ran over to my car to get in forgetting it was locked and I had left the keys in the house. I ran as fast as I could and grabbed them off the kitchen sink. Floor was covered in blood. Screaming of evil ghosts throughout the house taking place as I rushed outside, once again. I opened the car door, got in and started the engine, slamming the door shut and then locked it. I looked back at the house, smoke was coming out of the living room windows and soon went up in flames. You could hear the screams of little children, gunshots echoing through the hills, as I sped out of the driveway and headed back home. I had gone to the library the next day to find out the history of that home. I had found out that the people that lived there before were all murdered, left dead in the house to rot. Words written in blood had been left there to read. It had been a mystery since then. People in town figured it had to be evil spirits that killed that family. I closed the book, realizing how lucky I was still to be alive. It had been my favorite place to relax, but never returned there again. © 2015 Country Girl46 |
