You Changed it All

You Changed it All

A Poem by G. Anderson

I was simply drifting away.
Numb to whoever,
senseless to whatever,
and it all changed.

The massacre rained down,
of fragments of heart,
my love bent and broken...
and you changed it all.

The stars didn't matter,
the sun only a brand in the sky.
My smile now a frown,
and somehow...

you healed it all.

You washed away my fear,
waves of mirth and joy,
of warmth and love.
You changed my pain.

The pain I had,
was sad and grey.
Like blood-drenched pavement,
it wouldn't wash away.

One after another they tried
to get rid of the threnody.
But you, my love,
took a different approach,

and changed all of it.

You transformed the hurt
into a wholesome puzzle,
the frown to a grin,
the limp to a stride.

You took the time to
bend and pick up the pieces,
but unlike the other caregivers,
you had the right adhesive.

You made the effort to
make me laugh when I refused.
And I have everything to lose,
but it is definitly worth it.

Because you changed it all.
