Living Nightmare

Living Nightmare

A Poem by G. Anderson

Your tender nothing
and sweet words vibrate my heart.
What would have been
an echo of longing, is now being fullfilled.
You extend your soul to
mine, I reach for yours, now entwined...

But before I grasp the
wisp of hope, like smoke, my heart chokes.
Chokes on the loss of your
life, not wanting the absence of light.

I cry in poignant despair,
Grasping at the air,
Hoping to clutch-

Naught but a living nightmare.
