As I Stand Waiting

As I Stand Waiting

A Poem by G. Anderson

I will writhe

and swim in agony.

Eyes in and out of focus...

Heart faintly beating...

My shallow, shaky breaths

Will turn to misty clouds.

As I stand waiting.

The snow will fall,

And drift like ashes.

Much as my scraps of heart

Settle on the bloody ground.

The snow burns red with pain and murder.

My mind, it shrieks.

My chest, it screams its silent song.

The cracks fester with hate and rejection.

As I stand waiting.

A grimace melts my face.

My eyes preach the lonely story of neglect.

My body is numb.

Colder than the flakes of frost.

I bend and twist.

Gaunt.

Hollow.

Barren.

Nude in the snow.

Unprotected.

Yet I stand waiting.

I wait for the wave to pass.

This horrid, excruciating ocean.

The tsunami of breakage.

And no matter how deep.

How tall.

How powerful.

How long,

That f*****g wave is,

I will stand.

And I will love you.

So I wait for you,

For your adhesive for my shattered heart.

For you to love me again.

I fight for what I love,

I live for what I love.

And I will forever stand for my love.
