SMILE UPON THE PAIN

SMILE UPON THE PAIN

A Poem by G. Anderson
"

It's pretty.... hardcore. Very disturbing I should say.

"

That ice-cold metal feels so good

Against my burning cheek.

The thought of your pain feeds

And excited animal in me.

I taste the brine, the blood

Dripping from my lips.

The madness comes; the hurt,

The sadness.

Fists clench time and time again,

Wanting to claw my face.

I'm losing my mind over a stupid,

f*****g, goddamned WORD!

I'M FILLED WITH SO MUCH

HURT THAT CAN'T GET OUT!

IT BOTTLES UNTIL MY BREATH

IS RAGGED WITH MASOCHISM.

I AM BENT, PERVERSE,

BEYOND REPAIR.

I'VE LOVED AND LOST AS YOU CAN

SEE BUT CANNOT FEEL.

SO NOTHING CAN SAVE ME.

I STILL PRESS YOUR NOTES TO

MY LIPS WITH TEMERITY.

I HATE ME. YOU HATE ME.

IT ALL BALANCES OUT MY FRIEND.

I WAKE UP IN THE COLD NOVEMBER RAIN,

AND

SMILE UPON MY PAIN.

Author's Note

G. Anderson
This I wrote after my first attempt at suicide.
Enjoy my pain, as horrible as it sounds.
They tell me it makes good poetry.
