Aging (part 1)

Aging (part 1)

A Poem by Al R. Arce

Aging is a most peculiar event
You think you know what is all about
But as it slowly reinvents
It hits you like a whispering shout.

It starts with your tastes...
One day you start eating pig's feet
Suddenly you like Marley and Cliff
Cigars and Bourbon are great for your waste

Silence, water, birds and the sky
Leaves dancing to a tuneless song
Everything slows down to a simple lullaby
As if everything for once comes to play along.

Love takes a different meaning
Its no longer fiery and overwhelming,
It's soft, tender like a breeze weaning
Where a smile, a touch or a look become helming.

Aging is a peculiar thing
I have no clue as to what it will bring
I just hope I remain myself
Just dancing to a different step.
