Unfiltered

Unfiltered

A Poem by Crystal Overmeyer-Birmingham

In a world
where pain is beauty
and suffering is fashion
you make sweatpants look sexy.
I crave your
messy hair
and unabridged authenticity
holding out your hand
you say
there is nothing more attractive
than a woman comfortable in her own skin
I smile
rolls and blemishes
and relish in
the cozy haze
of unfiltered love

Thank You, sorry i suck that responding to reviews, but i really do appreciate the reviews
Short poems in my eyes are the best and this one is so raw with emotions. Really good Crystal.

This is a beautiful write Crystal... and it's true. Nothing sexier than a woman comfortable in her own skin and nothing more awesome than a guy who loves her for who she is. A perfect combination :) Great work :)

Crystal, This is great. You pepper the piece with writing flecked with negative connotations ('pain is beauty' and 'messy hair'), suggesting a couple finding each other, avoiding each's imperfections but fitting into a comfortable mold. The perfect relationship? Yeah, that is exactly the kind that has the staying power to last, holding hands and giggling. Super write! take care...dan

About
I am a poet by nature. Words just speak to me and color my world. I away think of poetry as painting with phases, just as vibrant and life giving as they are messy and complex. more..
