I Dreamed of You

I dreamed of you today.

The funny thing is, I was awake.

But as sure as it was Sunday and as certain as the sun in the sky,

I dreamed of the way you caressed my spirit and how you've touched me in a way I can only hope another can fathom.

I felt your breath on my neck as you held me from behind.

I heard the music in our background opening a universe as we kissed.

I held your hand,

Felt your heart beat,

I smelled your cologne as your pheromones pulled me in.

And I gladly drowned.

And in my dream I clutched on to you for dear life.

Because I knew that once I opened my eyes,

I'd only be left to miss you.

My heart would be vacant.

I'd be left with longing.

Because to me, there is no other.

So while I dreamed of you I cherished our long walks filled with laughter and the beauty that is nature,

That is us.

And I held on to what once was

With silent tears drifting down my face.

A devastating tightness in my chest.

And a saddened smile in my heart

I dreamed of you today….
