Screen

Screen

A Poem by Big-Blue-Apoptosis

You were a fool
to think this vapid consolation
of a night before a screen
would satisfy the animal
desire in my heart.

I needed to run, to breath,
I needed to feel life in my rushing blood.
But these false convictions and desires,
met by a mutual apathy
take my desire to see stars
and replace them with a screen.

And we can sit and stare together,
or I can sit and stare alone.
It really makes no difference
and it's so very sad,
because I always thought
you would let me be the one
to show you something new.

The stars are falling out of my eyes,
each time you cast yours away.
