Birds: The WagtailA Poem by Wild RoseThe wagtail hops out of our hedge It lives some whare amongst the tangled branches of the hedge Its tail wags as it moves across the lawn In fact, the tail never stops wagging Carefully picking it way past the food left for other birds Cake and bread crumbs, birdseed All welcome by our other visitors It pecks at selected items Moving across to the path Nothing that we can see It picks up some invisible (to us humans) Discarded by the other bird as insignificant What does it find to eat?
