Red Pen

Red Pen

A Poem by Siobhan Shaddow

I'm curled up on my bed

With only an hour to November

Looking at the brilliant pink lipgloss

That I bought for that dance

Apparently it's magnifying

How surprising

So surprising

(chorus)

This song was written in red pen

After I'd promised myself I'd never

Write a song about you again

But you seem to look straight through me

So tell me now,

Am I invisible?

Am I just a ghost to you?

I don't understand how don't see

That you're the only one for me

The lights went off

And I watched you leave

Wishing you could only understand

The feelings I feel

And I wonder

If you ever have

I want to steal those feelings away

Bring the blue skies back from grey old grey

While I plan a speech of things to say

Just in case I bump into you

Later on today

(chorus)

I'm standing in line just to get to you

One heart at the checkout

Why can't there be two?

Your opinion is my rival

But I want you to choose what you choose

And then again there's always you and me

The way I thought it was meant to be

You're not holding on

But you won't let go of me

So I'll try to catch your attention

Divert you in my direction

Even if it means pulling a silly face

Tell me you feel the same

Or put me in my place

(chorus)
