Midnight StarA Poem by MazieThe Midnight Star, still shooting out his rays, The shinning spit of light within the sky, A blackened callous hole which follows Day, And crushes that, the soul, to leave and die. The winds of time would tell a tale too long, Of starless skies and pained goodbyes before; And in each star, they map forgotten songs, Whose tunes tell tales, now thought to be forlorn. But now that star emits a light so bright; A guidepost in a world so void of cheer; A soft and temperate glow across the desert night; The light which sparks my hope for future years. And Day goes by, all smitten by her light, But I lay here, awaiting Star of Night.
