Moonlit LullabyA Poem by Max HernzYour pulse, my breath For my heart you are meant. Share beat instead, For words we haven't said. Then breath again, So I'll never forget. Upon, I sit My eager eyes, To seek your silver lights. My eyes are met, By cloudy nights, Behind which you hide. Subtle deject Then interwind Inside this heart of mine. Oh, Moon, you let The starry sky Between us; you and I?! But then I let, Myself abide In fire that won't subside... Then I regret My foolish fight 'Cause, Moon, you're my delight. And so I bend, To your design, With sorrow by my side. I swallow dread That I must hide. For, you, I can't resign. Oh, Moon, my breath, I wrong my right And wish not for your flight.
