Do you want to see my scars?
They have your name written in red,
I wrote it there so I’ll never have to forget.
Some are olde as the stories they tell,
Others are new, without meaning they’re held.
But if you’d only stop to listen without judging,
You’ll realize the reason they are striking.
It wasn’t about you, but about me.
The factor that I hold to be.
Things I have managed to make wrong,
People that I’ve proved myself strong.
They are stories of truth that lie in depth.
But many don’t carry the ears for they are deaf.
You did, oh you did,
Now you’ve turned the other way, kid.
In this feeling of loneliness,
They intrigue me with company.
So I won’t be alone,
So I won’t feel alone.
They are what I have,
When you decide not to be around.
So don’t be jealous when we laugh,
Cause you are not part of the crowd.
It’s been you who has decided to be gone.
And that’s that, it’s done.
It’s sad, it does sadden me.
But I guess that’s the way you want it to be.
Now, I just did it again tonight.
It felt like my feelings have been let out of sight.
It’s ok, they wonder about,
Nothing to have the authorities running around.
I will just fade into the distance
Like a forgotten ray of light,
And when there is so much credence,
It’s easy to forget why.
It’s easy to remember them by,
It’s easy to say, “Right.”
