I like the idea of memories warming our bones, which may just mean we can survive winter and the fuel crisis.
It's bonfire night here soon (5th November) where we celebrate guy fawkes attempts to blow up parliament, by having huge bonfires. For real! We actually celebrate that, and have done so before this lot were now stuck with were even born.
Maybe a few of them can be the guy this year (a dummy at the top of the pyre) It could be a new TV show, with viewers voting by text. They'd make billions and break the phone system to boot too 😊

They used to have a huge bonfire every year in the city where I grew up at Stanford campus, for the "big game". Fire excites people. I remember one year near the end of the game there was a fight on the field and tons of spectators poured onto the field to fight too, including my brother who was supposed to be watching me and my sister ( my dad moonlighted at the games)
Not the first time he ditched us. Once when he was babysitting there was a crash at the door and he ran off and hid leaving me and my sister in our footie jammies, wielding a spoon, to defend ourselves lol
You are right dear poet.

Stay warm and snug-
the best thing about winter is snuggling under a big blanket
Beautiful. If your writing reflects you you must be one lovely, lovely lady :)

Not a fan of winter Amy, but happy enough in autumn years. I like the warmth of the colours and we light the log fires to warm our bones. Really enjoyed the imagery here. A super poem. Happy Sunday.

lovely metaphor for winter biting our bones Soft. though to be honest, winter is my least favorite season, my season of discontent. don't like ice unless it's in a glass, don't do snow anymore which makes the nose quite happy, lack of sun ruins my hard earned tan, and the maple leafs haven't done a thing for me in over half a century...yep as I say my season of discontent
that said, lovely little poem

Guess that's to be expected from one's who's childhood memories of winter are all courtesy of Walt Disney. So here I sit and ache until sometime in the new yr when she finally relents and agrees to let us go work on our tans. Though about 10 mins after we get there she's complaining its too damn hot!!!

Muse is my rock. as for handful, yep, in more ways than one. she is barely 5 ft to my 6 plus. Smart, tough, and successful, she knows what she wants, and isnt afraid to say, which is what I especially love. Life complicated enough without having to always be guessing what it is your other half is in want of.
Close and close...and we know winter is coming...our pasts reconsidered, our future close...
we close our books and smile at one another...
and rock back and forth as the leaves dance across the lawn.
