It's like a newsflash and a hot flash combined, I think many poets are plagued by insomnia. I know I write into the wee hours of the morning, you probably wrote this at 3 AM, nice one! :-)

I have been plauged by insomnia for most of my life, and this describes the feeling of that for me. To be so longing for peace and relaxation, and yet you are unable to achieve that which is just beyond your grasp. Simple, concise and thought provoking. Well done.

You described a common nocturnal plight very well here: I was inspired to write this tiny gift poem for you. It doesn't rhyme, but it's balanced in meter. The six syllable lines have 0/0/0/ meter:


To sleep
perchance
to dream

I'm thinking of of myself here as being half in and half out of sleep. A hot flash is different than a quiet drift whereby you feel as though you've left your body. My poem isn't about a restless condition, but rather a blissful condition.
