If You Were A Jersey Girl - (which you were not)A Poem by Dan in TSCBased on the line “In Poems about Jersey Girls They Knew In Another Life” by Brian Fallon from the song Lonely For You OnlyIf You Were A Jersey Girl - (which
you were not) You’d’ve been loud and laughed
fully Your hair would’ve become streaked
with blonde from the summer sun You’d still said “going down the
shore” though you knew it is grammatically incorrect You’d’ve spent nights under the
neon lights of the boardwalk and thought there was nothing better If you were a Jersey Girl - (which
you were not) You’d’ve used curse words
tastefully and thoroughly You’d’ve known not all bagels or
pizzas are created equal You’d’ve told people where you
lived by your Turnpike Exit number You’d’ve watched meteor showers
glow bright overhead at Princeton Battlefield If you were a Jersey Girl - (which
you were not) You’d’ve understood it was The
Boss over Bon Jovi, but Sinatra was the (chair)man When your song came on everyone
had better have been dancing with you You wouldn’t’ve taken any s**t
from anybody- especially a “dumb boy” Life would’ve revolved around you If you were a Jersey Girl - (which
you were not) You would have meet me You would have made me fall in
love with you You would have falling in love
with me You would have been mine forever If you were a Jersey Girl. © 2023 Dan in TSC |
