Slow Down

She digs her hands into the ground

Plunging as deep as they can go

Breaking nails

Snapping bones

Watering the Earth with her own blood

Trying to pull it to a stop.

The Earth does not stop

It cannot feel her.

She continues to cry

And begs for the world to slow down, for just a moment

So that she may catch up.
