A MINI-PLAY: 3 ACTS in 12 LINES

Monday ~ Lunchtime ~The HappyBean

Jack: “Would you rather be smart, rich or beautiful?”

Jill winks. “I’ve got all three pretty well covered, thanks.”

Jack nods in agreement. “Let me rephrase. Which two would you give up if you had to?”

Jill: “ … If I had too? That’s a tough one.”

.   .   .

Jack: “Okay, start by eliminating just one.”

Jill: “Rich. If I’m smart, which I am, I can always get my net worth back.”

Jack: “Well-said, pal. Which one goes next?”

Jill frowns. “ … Damn. If I say smart, I can’t be rich again.”

.   .   .

Jack: “So, you’d give up beautiful, huh?”

Jill purses her lips. “No, smart. My looks are too integral to my identity.”

Jack smirks. “Just what I figured.”

Jill hikes an eyebrow. “Alright smarty-pants, which one of your two would you give up?”

Never ever bank on looks! This lady ain't as smart as she thinks she is. What a weak thing to say, that her looks are integral, blah-blah-blah. You are almost too clever for the cafe, to be honest. This is lightyears more inventive than what I'm used to seeing here over the years, myself included (((HUGS)))

As an old person, once beautiful but now ugly as s**t, once bicycled across the USA but now sitting like a soft lump in a wheelchair, but I still have my wit & my mind & I'm creating these crazy-wild poems. Even tho I was addicted to my beauty & physicality all my life, considering it "part of my identity" (barf!) . . . I am so thankful I'm left with my smarts. Oh hell yeah . . . smarts every time. What if the world is on lockdown for the rest of our lives? Would you rather be chippin' away with a pretty girl via text? Or a rich one when you can't have her buy you dinner? It goes on & on. Sorry, perhaps I've smoked a tad too much bud tonight & thank you for your kindness to humor me like this (((HUGS)))
