They Say Their Windows

They Say Their Windows

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Colors explode behind your lashes
The brightest I've ever seen
You whisper of your true self
Of a closed heart to be preened

Shh shh sweet silence
I can hear it beating fast
Racing in a rhythm of its own
Hoping the race will last

Breath, just breathe
And listen for the thunder
Close those colored eyes
While I watch in wonder

Colors explode behind your lashes
The brightest I've ever seen<3

I like the use of the language to express your point in the poem. Good visions create by powerful thoughts.
"Breath, just breathe
And listen for the thunder"
Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

I like this. The poem is very rich in metaphor which is my favorite literary device. The image of silence beating in a rhythm was particularly good. The ending is left open to our imagination, which is curiously awakened.

My recommendation would be to add an empty line to space out between every 4 lines. Also, I think you'd find it easy to rework line 4 so that "preened" was just "preen". This would make the rhyme with "seen" better.

Please continue writing. I'd like to see more of the same from you.
