GALES

This poem is about social injustices that are happening at a small rural towwnship called Nsundwe. Nsundwe is a township in Malawi’s capital district of Lilongwe.

Over the dry lands of Nsundwe gales rampage

They blow through the herd of charging B. bubalises

And butcher one to their Pyrrhic victories: 

The victories of shame that haunt 

the very nuance of Nsundwe the name.

Over the dusty plains of Nsundwe gales avenge

They bite up and rope the damzels on their grazing lands

And sweep the sires away into captivities: 

The captivities of deterrence and paltry pleas,

or hot damzels causes censure.

Over the red soils of Nsundwe gales ravage

They toss the ashen wigs off those hairless hearts

And litter them with distended desires:

The desires that see no piteous faces 

of the bucolic damzels of Nsundwe

Over the tranquil grounds of Nsundwe gales damage

They shake even the integrity of the wigged gals

And send pro bono crumbling down into mercenaries:

The mercenaries of shame that fetch millions

off of the mortifying toils of the rustic damzels of Nsundwe.
