AN ODE TO THE WOMAN

AN ODE TO THE WOMAN

A Poem by Takaichi Tanaka
"

A poem about loss and how to deal with it. In the poem the speaker addresses an unnamed woman - recounting life events to her in an effort to keep her heartbroken mind away from the devastating loss.

"
Just when she popped out of the blind
Into the aisle of the neo-edifice society’s
Condominium;
At the mo unmistakably beheld as placid,
      yet a flaccid pelt upon tap
[In my insensate sight of her sparkle and finery];
Did I behold her as the woman:
Fine-looking, temperate and compassionate.

Hitherto, just when I thought hers would stay for ever
[possibly into post-nonagenarian];
Merely for her - ‘musing her specifically
      and also all and sundry at large;
Did I pitifully hear her say it was lastly over
And, thus I screwed up
For which I wished and reproved my shortfalls
On hers, just when the era was apt

‘Twins’ she once assured me; persisting.
[But,… alright
I know you are just too strong a woman
To buckle under this weight
For you see, too:
She now walks in the moonlight serenity
Deep into the eternal glory and peace]
