BOOMERANGA Poem by Takaichi TanakaThe poem advises us all against evil deeds, hypochondriac, and melancholy. Particularly, the speaker uses the device and the word itself to advise his subject - Malawi's national police.A word with a lasting aroma; 'boomerang' A word that curves an
imagination on the mind as if though a boom rang A word that resounds
within the mind many a time It does whenever the
dark eagles mime Even when they try to
feast on the sharp eyes of mine A word with a tone
of advice On melancholy and
against vice A word that banters
the eagles Whenever they pursue
no fixed goals While their feet with their boots get galvanized with galls An inanimate friend
who knows its schemer As it does fly back; "afloat like a skimmer A word that pacifies
and on the qui vive always Post will-o-the-wisp
though The boomerang like an
assailant returns High, low; the eagle
flies It alights, in the
air fast it runs Under the sunshine,
to moonshine from its rise The eagles pacify the
nation lengthwise Shade the dark
feathers off for white But, alas!... The eagle’s heart and
blood therein! Or are you just
another goon on the run? The boomerang does return © 2024 Takaichi Tanaka |
