Mental Anguish

Mental Anguish

A Poem by Calvin Warden II

The soul is set free
     While encased by thought
The mind tried to fly to the sun
     Without burning its wings
Instead flies to the sea
     Falls in and drowns
And if the dam breaks open
     Many years to soon
We'll have to study lovers and fighters
And the risks they take ib the other side of life
The lovely man cries for love
But there's no one to reply
Mental anguish and self-inflicted pain
     But who's left to blame
Do you want change to last
'cause the future lies in the past
The walls around us start to crumble
That will make the world fall and stumble
Into its grave
     It wants to pray
We'll have to change our days
And the days are on their way
It's time for me to go
     Straight to the show
