Ouija board

A silly fun story

The thunder rumbled. Lightening danced across the sky. A gale force wind beat against the house. Sarah, Maria, Tina and Beth, were warm and dry inside.

It was Halloween. Sarah and her friends were having a slumber party. They decorated  with pumpkins, a plastic witch and a skeleton. Sarah's 2 black cats, paced at the door, wanting to go outside. Sarah found a ouija board, hidden in back of the closet.

"Look what I found." Yelled Sarah

" What is it?" Asked Beth.

" A OUIJA BOARD"

" Whoo, I heard you can conjure dead people with those things". Said Maria

" That's just an old wife's tale." Said Tina " you conjure up demons"

" Really demons and dead people, no way." Said Beth.

" Let's try." said Sarah

The girls eagerly started to play. Maria and Beth sat on the floor Indian style. Sarah placed the board on their knees. Sarah put the planchette on the board. Maria held her hands over the planchette. " is anyone out there?"

Silence

Beth placed her hands over the planchette." Is anyone out there? Hello anyone!"

Silence

" Let me try." Said Sarah " .

Beth and Sarah changed  places. Sarah held her hands over the planchette. " hello,  haunts, ghosts or demons,  come inside and get dry,"  Maria held her hands over Sarah's," welcome spirits of the night, time for a visit." 

Sarah's cats Midnight and Luna stopped pacing. Both cats lay on Tina.

Sarah chanted"  Welcome ,welcome spirits of the night, time for a visit"

Maria chanted, " Don't be shy demons come to our party."

Lightning lit up the sky. Thunder roared. The house shook. The ouija board broke. Rainbow colored smoke poured from the board.

 

A tall thin creature, with arms and bird's feet appeared. It flapped it wings and chomped it's teeth." Good evening"

The girls screamed. They ran for the door. They turned the doorknob. They pounded on the door. The door would not open.  It would not budge.

" Is that anyway to treat an invited guest? Yawned the demon reveling long sharp teeth. "I'm warm and dry. What is there to eat and drink.?"

" Chips, Pepsi" stammered Sarah.

 "Give them to me." The demon devoured the chips, drank the Pepsi. "MORE, give me more."

" There is no more." Cried Sarah

"Yes there is you. "

The demon licked Sarah and spit. " NASTY" 

The demon smelt Beth "TO SWEET." 

The demon poked Maria "TO THIN NO MEAT." 

The demon smelt Tina, licked Tina and poked Tina.  "I'VE HAD BETTER, BUT YOU WILL DO "

Luna rushed in front  of Tina. Luna raised her black furry paw " meow  meow hiss. "

Midnight raised her paw " meow meow hiss "

The demon chuckled and patted Luna. 

 "MEOW HISSSS MEOW HISSSS" screeched the cats.

"NICE CATS, NOW GET AWAY FROM MY SNACK" the demon grabbed Tina. The girls screamed. 

" Meow meow hiss hiss meow hiss." Screeched Luna and Midnight. 

Outside the house, in the rain, echoed "meow meow hiss hiss" At the window tapped furry paws. " meow meow hiss hiss " grew louder, drowning out the storm. The door buckled. The door groaned. The door crashed onto the floor. A wave of furry felines flooded the room. "MEOW hiss meow hissss" the cats slashed with razor sharp claws.  The cats attacked the demon.

" AWWWW NO" screamed the demon turning into smoke. The smoke grew small , it entered the broken ouija  board. The board became whole. 

Luna and Midnight patted the board" meow meow  hiss hiss."  A swarm of cats stomped on the ouija board  " meow meow hiss hiss"

The girls opened the door and ran into  the kitchen. 

" What was that ?" Cried Beth

"It was horrible. It tried to eat me"  whispered Tina

"No more demon conjuring ever. I hate ouija boards. " said Maria.

"Meow meow purr purr" Midnight rubbed up against Tina. 

"Meow meow purr purr."  Echoed in the kitchen, as a herd of cats , crowded every space.

Midnight patted Sarah. " Purr, that my young mistresses was a bird brained harpy from the gates of Hades."

The girls stared.

Midnight "Purr,. The usual fees apply.. Demon removal, door demolished, girls rescued. Extreme cuteness with claws and biting teeth.".

Sarah " hun?"

Midnight "Purr my friends are hungry.  Defeating a harpy is thristy work. "

Sarah " you talk?"

"MEOW HISSSS MEOW HISSSS " screeched the cats. 

Midnight " mistress feed my army. Their very hungry. "

Sarah feed the cats.

​This was such a fun and quirky little story! I actually laughed out loud at the rainbow-colored smoke lol. That was so unexpected and whimsical. I’d probably be terrified if that bird-like creature showed up in my house (anything with wings gives me the chills, haha), so I could definitely feel the girls’ panic!

I absolutely adored the cats. They were fierce, funny, and true to how cats would totally step up (and sass their way through it). The way the story keeps twisting from one surprise to another- from a harmless sleepover game to pure chaos... makes it such an entertaining and imaginative read. It’s delightfully unpredictable and full of charm!

This was a lot of fun. Extreme cuteness with claws and biting teeth indeed.

I also laughed as the demon was less than thrilled with its choice of meals. The food was too sweet and too skinny. Zero stars on Demon Yelp.

Not to mention that any story with cats gets my vote. Thank you for posting this.
