Chains

Chains

A Poem by Dak

They say the most rewarding experiences are those that spark the grand feeling of adventure. So I live my life as a desperate attempt to clutch onto those fleeting opportunities and never loosen my grip.

AHA! I feel as though the stars are within my reach! Nothing’s stopping me now. The world is a canvas and I the eager artist. “I no longer have to report to you! I’m free!” I bellow across the atmosphere before being yanked down by the shackles that bind me to the cold reality that is my cage. How foolish of myself, to think I could have such an experience.

“Sorry, won’t happen again” I lie as I look through the bars to the dim sky, highlighted only by crashing meteors… One day.

The below words are true.
"So I live my life as a desperate attempt to clutch onto those fleeting opportunities and never loosen my grip. "
We must loosen our grip and test life. A life locked-up and chained. Leave us wishing for better places and endings. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome.
Interesting write. Definitely a mirror for those who work to achieve goals. I've often felt this way, high on my path as I attack my goals only to be slapped down by reality. I enjoyed reading it
