A Poem by Matthew Daalling
"

This poem ils about many things. Its about love and life, about substance abuse and about living in the hood. Its about survival and about overcoming adversity. Please read it. I hope you enjoy it

"
Take off and leave the upper atmosphere.
Rearrange the stars until only Leos and Libras appear.

Level out, Devil out. But devil in when I sin.
Would be your very best friend, till your out.
Now dealing with a roaming lion.

Roaming the great plains, till all transforms to the hood,
No chains or lion tame-ERs. Only ER's and ICU's to patch you up
From sudden danger.

There is no darkness without the light.
No daps or chest pumps without the fight.

No nonsense without some logic.
No instincts without some rage.

There is no phonetic way to say this....
so I get my point across on a page.

So dear reader,
I don't smoke reefer.
I do listen to Weazer
And sometimes find it hard to breathe but...

With a deep gasp and all my might
I muster the strength to say..
MUSTARD RULES!
As I long for my fortress of cheese to melt into
your fortress of solitude.

I am struggling with a title for this poem. If anyone has an idea as to what to call it. I would be greatly honored to hear it. Thank again.

This is such a wild and wonderful ride it’s poetic chaos in the best way. It feels like a mashup of street wisdom, deep reflection, cosmic imagination, and quirky humor.... all wrapped in honesty. It kind of jumps between intensity and playfulness so smoothly. Lines like "No chains or lion tamers. Only ERs and ICUs..." hit hard, gritty and real. Then you shift to "fortress of cheese" and "MUSTARD RULES!" and suddenly it’s like the poem winks at the reader. It’s raw, weird, smart, and strangely moving. Honestly, it feels like something only you could write. This poem was like a rollercoaster of emotions and different feelings for me. I well enjoyed reading this.
Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you Betty. That was the idea here, to put a light on those who, so often, go slipping through the cracks. I happen to be one of those people. And in my struggle, I thank God for giving me the insight to write this peace. I am equally as grateful that you enjoyed reading it. Thanks again betty. Your awesome.

The life below; those who my live on the streets, or chained to drugs, or those who just have to survive, living the best way they can...and the forgotten as well... many of these suffer from mental illness and because of ill help , they die...or spill blood from a fight for food. Our society forgets about these poor souls; always dodging adversity. Nice write!
