A terrible storm is God's way
of testing you
it's his way of making sure
you get what's promised to you
by overcoming the storm
a terrible storm is like a race
you need to pace yourself
to make it to the finish line
to get all God's got for you

Though I don't believe God tests people. I do believe that he allows life and circumstance to do so. Taken from that point of view I think your poem well expresses the process of growth. We will face adversity. We can allow it to refine or destroy us.

After a heavy storm there is always peace. The storm is like a race, and it is also an obstacle in some circumstances or situations. But after that, you get a nice slice of luxury for overcoming it. :)

A different point of view than mine but expressed nicely.

I just got stuck at lines 'by overcoming the storm, a terrible storm is like a race'.I read these lines together and and thought ' a storm, a terrible storm' but then realised it's a different sense and a different line.

This is a great piece. I have always had a deep love for storms of every degree. I've always loved the power that they emit and the fact that they can kill you easily. I know that dying isn't a good thing, but I just think that that is just amazing about them.
I also loved the slight religious message that was presented in this poem. It was a great read, two thumbs up!

A Terrible Storm to me, is Natures way of saying "Stop pissing me off!" and I believe Mother Nature is a hell of lot older than any God made up by Christianity... And a lot meaner as well....

I don't believe in 'God' but I do believe in healthy competition in the race to the finish line...

What does not kill us only makes us stronger...
