Poker Face

Poker Face

A Poem by Tasha
"

Being distracted by beauty.

"
You've dealt out every
Card you had,
Hoping you could win the game
But what's behind this poker face?
Something you will never know
You've played your cards right
So far in the game
But you can't read my poker face,
You're frustrated,
You're mad at yourself
You've played this game
A million times before
But there's something about this game
That's different...
Struck by the sight of beauty,
Mesmerized by her light brown eyes
She's different, unlike the rest
You can't win this game
And you know it,
You could never match up
To the skills this girl got..
She's beautiful, talented, and smart,
Something you'd never be able to read
Through her poker face

when i was first reading this, I thought it would only be about the concept of pokerface, and elaborate on that alone. But I really liked the twist it took. It was unexpected, just like the woman that was the subject in this poem! I get this image of a man trying to look into the eyes of this brown-eyed woman and 'figure her out', only he can't! and he's getting frustrated....funny image! thanks

Sometimes people think they know you, but still you hold something that only you know, and it takes someone really special to decipher what you really hide behind this 'poker face' of yours. Well depicted.
