The Betrayal

The Betrayal

A Poem by Randall
"

Thoughts on losing a friend. Not why, but how they did it.

"

                                                 Betrayal

I don’t know what happened.  It all changed one day, without warning.  We were talking and then, the next time, you were avoiding me.  Denying my existence, ignoring me, not once but three times, as Peter did too Christ.

It wasn’t the Betrayal itself.  It’s the way you went about it, denying that I'm here.  Not looking me straight in the eyes and telling me, you no longer wanted to be my friend.  You chose the worse possible way to take someone's heart from them.  You chose Indifference.

Betrayal, I can forgive, because you believe your reason to be trueBut how you chose Indifference to carry it out.  I will always remember.

You are more forgiving than I am as I have been betrayed, rejected, ignored and disregarded by someone. The unbelievable audacity coupled with heartache is not forgivable in my eyes.
I really like the way you wrote this.

My faith tells me I should forgive. Maybe one day.
Thank you, Randall. You’ve put real truth into these lines, and it comes through clearly. I’m glad you shared this piece; it speaks with honesty, and I respect the way you shaped it.
