The Right Hat.

The Right Hat.

A Poem by Randall

The introduction page to my novel, "Mary and Daniel."

"
The Right Hat.

I saw you looking at me.
So, I thought.
Didn't realize you were looking way beyond me.
Made a fool of myself, thinking You would ever love me.
That court Jester's hat seems to slip on me to easy.
Maybe I'll buy a Cowboy hat, a GUS.
Fit it tight so it won't come off in the Wyoming winds.
Then look for a pretty woman, somewhere between, say,
Casper and Buffalo.
That's where, I've heard a lot of Wyoming's pretty women live.
Yup, that's what I'll do someday.
Nope, I'll do it today.
She might be waiting for me.
Don't want to keep a lady waiting.
