Letter to Mary

From a novel I wrote, titled "Mary and Daniel."

My Dearest Mary,

Come with me to search for that Guinea Pig with a tail.

He's out there somewhere.

We, Together, will find him.

We will look in the valley.

We will look in the hills

We will look in the Mountains.

We will look in the heavens

He cannot hide from us

Together we will find him.

When we find him, the one, the only. Guinea Pig with a tail.

He will be there to prove our Love, the one the only love we have.

When 9 years old, I had 10 Guinea Pigs, a whole family. My grandfather came to live with us. And he used to tell me that Guinea pigs had tails, and if you held them upside down by their tails. Their eyes would fall out. Well, I went out and checked all ten of them, no tails. I just figured I didn't have one with a tail. But my grandfather assured me there was one out there with a tail. You just had to keep looking for it. When you're nine, you believe anything. I'm sure all twelve of his children were told the same story. That is where that writing came from.

p.s.- Guinea pigs don't have tails.
