Once.

Once.

A Poem by Randall

You stand where I once stood.  Not knowing myself.

Now I know myself, but not you.

Once you move beyond, where I once stood.

Maybe I’ll know you then, I hope so.

I’ll leave it up to you.

I’m through trying to decide for you.

You either are or you're not.

Know thy self.

Then you will know me.

Randall, this is a quietly wise piece. You capture so well the distance between who we were and who we become, and the moment when we have to step back and let someone find themselves. That final line: "Know thyself. Then you will know me." lands beautifully.

Thank you ~Sarah~. Are you peeking in through my office window when I write?
