water

-Water-

I like water.

Not, just to fill my thirst.

But too touch.

To hold.

To place on my body.

To put my body into.

To swim in.

To let it hold me while I float.

To take me to its depths.

To refresh me.

Hot or cold it does not matter.

Just as long as I can hold it.

It may slip between my fingers at times.

But there is always more.

I see you like water to.

Standing there all wet, waiting.

Thank you, Chris. You are right, water has the most power, yet can be the gentlest to us. There is a lesson to be learned from water. I remember in dive school in the Marines. Our instructor said, If you are ever in a rip tide, go with the flow and gradually swim to the side until you are out of it. Never against it.

This is really good writing and refreshing to read. I like the way everything you mention relates to the last two lines which act as a small surprise ending. Great job. You seem to have a natural talent for writing.

Thank you, sometimes, I feel like a hack writer compared to some of the folks on here. By the way, nice Drum set. I have a set of Whithalls since I was fourteen, no one appreciates drums anymore. Guess it could be the way I play them. LOUD!

I can tell you from being here a long time you're no hack. You have a style that's interesting. Keep writing. I've been playing since a young age, I've never heard of Whithall drums. Odd. I'll look them up online if I can find them. I play Tama.

Thank you, I know they don't make them anymore. Not sure when they stopped making them, Japanese Company. I bought mine in 1968 Blue agate pearl.

I checked out some sets a few minutes ago. They show a lot of vintage sets so it's no wonder I never heard of them. Nice looking though. Blue agate pearl - wow, I'm sure they're nice looking. My first set was by Mercury in blue sparkle. I loved them.

They look like new except for the Heads. I'm going to pass them along to my grandson, he seems to have the right stuff. He's four, start him early.

Sure, I started at seven. Heads are expensive now. Get them when you can so they'll last him a while.

It's no wonder we like the stuff. I mean, we're made of it. There's universal knowledge that we are soothed by it. The ocean, a river, a creek, it doesn't matter. In this case, I am thrilled to see we're in the shower with a certain someone.

This almost feels like an ode forged out of love for water itself. "To take me to its depths" shows.... well, *depth* itself. Water is such a healing element. Some of my happiest memories are of rainy days or afternoons at the pool. Or, just a nice hot bath. This was a pleasant little read.
