"You can't fool me again."

"You can't fool me again."

A Poem by Randall

You can't fool me...
You may think you can...
You may believe such Malarky...
You'll never fool me again...
You will have to prove it to me...
You can't fool me...
You say you brought proof...
You think I'll fall for that?
You know I fell for that once...
You know the right words...
You know I know the same words...
You think me a fool...
You expect me to believe it again?
You have to show me your proof.................
You show him hanging....
You show him with nails through his wrist....
You show him with nails through his feet....
You show him with a wound in his side....
You would do anything to prove me wrong...
You would sacrifice your own Son...
You would give him up for me?
You expect me to be there Ash Wednesday to receive the cross?
You expect me to last for forty days through Holy Thursday?
You want me to act as if Sundays don't exist...
You want me there for your Sunday the day of Ascension?
You want me to receive the wafer and wine...
You fooled me once into believing....
You know I'm good for my word, if I say I'll be there...
You want me there, let your Son walk beside me there...
God............One more time around, I'm ready, prove me wrong......Walk me home!

Such a powerful reckoning, Randall. The honesty in this wrestle with faith really lands. That last turn toward wanting to walk beside the divine stayed with me.
