"Someday"

"Someday"

A Poem by Randall

Someday

I used to believe I could fly

Nothing fancy, I just put my arms out to the side and take off.

The birds looked at me in amazement.

They let me fly with them, you know, as if I were one of them.

Why one day they even let me lead them.

I would fly so high, and sometimes low to the ground.

Sometimes, I would sit in the trees and talk to the birds.

Other times I would just sit and listen

Birds are quite smart, they know who to trust.

Who they want to be around and sing to.

Then I grew older and did other things more important things.

I stopped climbing trees, stopped talking, and listening to birds.

I stopped flying with the birds.

But someday, I’ll go outside, put my arms out to the side and take off.

The birds will look at me in amazement.

don’t even need to lead them, just fly with them.

Just listen and talk to them again.

Yes, as we grow older we learn to do more "important" things. It is the way of the world;' we must fall into the ranks of the wage earners. But something is lost, something precious. The speaker here seems to realize this and vows to return to those free days. May he be successful in doing so.

Nice Work Randall, and a nice use of metaphor. Personally I don't miss my wild and dangerous youth, but it sounds like you had a ball. Really Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
