"If I were to..."

"If I were to..."

A Poem by Randall

If I were to die today.
I know you would miss me.
How long?
Maybe a year or two, then fading away
But if you believed my love for you was true.
Perhaps, you would miss me to your end.

I am happy that I will not see your end.
I could not bear it.
Your end would be my end.

You're welcome.
There’s a hush in this piece, Randall...
a soft imagining of endings that feels more like devotion than sorrow.
Your lines move like a hand reaching through time,
measuring love by the echo it leaves...
I felt the quiet ache of it, and the tenderness beneath.
