A word, any word, what does it mean? 

A word like "lost" what does it mean?

Perhaps it means... "I am adrift".......

What does "without " mean?

It may mean..."in need of"...... 

What does "you" mean?

Me thinks it means... "thee"....

Why did I pick these words?

"lost without you"

I tried something a little different.

I looked up Sir John Betjeman online, a very interesting man. I'll have to head to the bookstore on Saturday and see what I can find. I noticed he studied at Oxford. I do believe quite a few good poets come out of there.
I personally have talked to one who comes to mind. :)
