Eternal Melody Act
I: Illusions of Peace
So calm, so peaceful
The rain
So deep, so hidden
The pain
Breaking away the memories of yesterday
Just the echoes of a day wasted and vain
To wish upon a better tomorrow
There is no lie, there is no hate
There is no reason to remember
Like my dreams and desires I reflect my face
Upon a window of a lonely place
Which the rain
Ever so coldly takes them away
Fantasies of what I have been and what I wished to be
Memories of where I
came and where I dreamed to be
With the twilight they
fade
A peace not real, not
eternal
Poisoned mind by the
doctrine of a dubious truth
The mirage of a life worth living
I've got nothing to love
If there is nothing to die for
It is no life at all
I've worked day
and night
To bring upon some
sustain
Amidst the cold city I
know even an undying will may fade
Bring me an angel or
my life I will surrender
To these Illusions of
peace
Of the forgotten notes
in a piano forte
To the demons of the
past and truth
The puppet I’ve become
So shallow and crude
A lullaby to my dreams
As I walk through the
buzzing yet soulless streets
Where I can please my
flesh and poison my soul
A life worth living
this is not, but is the only life I’ve got
To find solace in the flesh
To fill my lack of love with lust
To embrace the lies as truth
And this chaos as peace
But I know that death may soon be near
And a muse I’m yet to hear
It’s not love I fear
But the reality that has brought me here
To compose empty words with blightful ink
And to call rhetoric a friend
To the soothing glow of the lights
May they shine on a forgotten man
To the spirits of the bottle I cry
To the poison in my veins I drown
But I hear a whisper, and a sound remains
Invites me to descend until I lose all light
I see her face and in her eyes a look I’ve never seen
She says she’s a lost soul like me
And in her beauty as bask my fears
Until the night comes and with her a melody fades
