The neighbor that visits only once in a while:A Poem by justdandyIts the cold that makes me feel things. The neighbor is knocking on my window, Pleading me to let him in. But I can't. At least not today, not right now. I'm busy lying in my bed, hiding from the cold, listening to his yelling, to his banging. Time goes by and still He’s there. He keeps on knocking. He keeps on yelling. But I don’t let him in. I’ve gotten used to him. And I am starting to like this storm of his. He sometimes whistles, And believe me when I tell you that it is pleasant to hear.
I get out of bed, grab my laptop, and start catching up on what happened to Damon. Did Bonnie wake him up? Through the window, My neighbor peaks in. He notices that I am watching one of my favorite shows, He decides to play a prank on me. He turns off the electricity. He wants to get attention. And that is exactly what he gets. I close my laptop, for what's the use of a laptop without any Wi-Fi. I walk to the front door. Open it. Go outside. My neighbor greets me with a whistle, He hugs me tight, then lightly, playfully, he pokes me, he pokes me once more, and doesn't stop. His pokes are gentle, peaceful, playful, warming. And so I let him poke me. Because I haven’t seen him in a while, I forgot how much I loved him, Because I didn’t know I missed him this much. © 2016 justdandyAuthor's Note
