1
Adrien James Hinson
walked into the entrance of Magdalene high located in the city of Magdalene,
Pennsylvania. He along with his other fellow former 8th grade
classmates started their first day as freshmen. Adrien had visited the high
school during the summer when they held freshmen orientation, so he had
memorized all of the wings of the high school and he knew exactly where to go
when he got his schedule. He noticed a whole bunch of other students lining up
at tables to get their schedules. He walked towards the table with the sign
above that read “freshmen” as he was
about to get in line he accidently bumped into this pretty girl with glasses,
knocking over her bag which spilled most of its contents. “Oh!” gasped the girl. “I am so sorry!” Adrien
apologized. They both bent down, the girl to pick her stuff up and Adrien to
help. They bent down at the same time which resulted in them bumping heads. “Ouch!” They both
yelped. They rubbed the spots on their heads that took the brunt of the attack.
Adrien was the first to actually make eye contact out of the two. Even though
she wore glasses, the girl was exceptionally beautiful. Finally the girl made eye contact with Adrien
and she was just taken back. Sure he wasn’t that muscular and he didn’t look
anything like a male super model but he was extremely handsome. They kneeled
there for two minutes staring into each other’s eyes. Adrien’s eyes were sky
blue while the girl’s eyes were a dark chocolaty brown. The girl was the first
to snap out of their daze. “Uh hi I’m Alina.” The
girl now known as Alina introduced herself. Adrien snapped out of his daze and
also introduced himself. “Uh I’m Adrien it’s a
pleasure to meet you.” Adrien realized her spilled stuff was still on the
ground so he began picking it up for her. She also noticed and began putting
the stuff back in her bag. Once all of Alina’s stuff was back in her hand bag
they both stood up. “Well thanks for
helping me pick my stuff up.” Alina thanked Adrien while smiling a 100 kilowatt
smile. Adrien practically melted inside. “Hey, I was the one who
knocked your bag down by accident, it was the least I could do.” Adrien humbly
admitted. Alina smiled at his sincerity. “So uh are you a sophomore
or a junior?” To Alina he didn’t seem like he was a freshman. “Nope I’m a freshman,
how about you?” Well she has been wrong before. “The same actually.”
The day just got a little better for Adrien. Remembering what he was doing
before he met Alina, Adrien quickly looked over to the Freshman Schedule line
to see that it was getting longer. Alina must have noticed too because she
asked. “Did you get your
schedule yet?” Adrien hearing the question looked back at her and answered “I was just on my way to
get in line.” “Well I already got
mine but if you want I can wait over by the auditorium doors so we can sit
together?” Alina realized what she asked and did an “Oh” shape with her mouth.
Adrien was shocked at first because no girl had ever asked to wait for him
after only just meeting, but then he smiled. “Sure, I’ll go get my
schedule but I’ll definitely meet you at the Auditorium doors.” Adrien excused
himself. Alina watched him go to the freshman line; a small smile crept on to
her face.
After Adrien gets his
schedule he makes his way over to the Auditorium doors which were a little bit
difficult because the freshmen who already have their schedules began making
their way over into the Auditorium.
Adrien sees Alina casually leaning up against the wall of the right side
door, so with a bit of shoving and a lot of “excuse me’s” he eventually made
his way over to her “Hey.” Alina shyly
greeted. “Hey. So you ready to
go in?” Adrien motioned towards the Auditorium doors. “Yeah, let’s go” They
waited for the people ahead of them before entering the Auditorium. “So where do you want
to sit?” Adrien asked looking for two empty seats. “You pick, I’m not really
good with decisions.” Alina honestly admitted. Aiden raised his left eyebrow at
that but decided not to press the issue. “Um alright.” Adrien
answered while scanning the rows of seats. He found two empty seats in the
middle row on the right end near the wall. “I found some perfect
seats, follow me.” Adrien instinctively grabbed her hand and began making his
way to the seats. Alina blushed as soon as Adrien grabbed her hand. “Uh Adrien?” Adrien
turned back around to Alina to see what was wrong. “Yes Alina?” “Uh?” Alina head
motioned towards their hands. Adrien noticing that his hand had grabbed hers,
he instantly jumped back in surprise. “Alina, I am so sorry I
didn’t even know that I was...” Adrien began to ramble. Alina laughed at his
awkwardness. “Oh it’s fine, let’s
just sit down okay?” Alina asked walking towards the seats Adrien was leading
them to. “Uh, yeah sure why
not?” Adrien followed after her. Alina took the inside seat while Adrien took
the outside one. As the entire Freshman class took their seats, a heavy set man
in his early to mid-40 came on to the stage and picked up the mic. “Welcome
every one my name is Mr. Hable and I am the Principal of Magdalene High.” The
Principal introduced himself and then began to speak about what it means to be
a freshman. ‘Man this is so boring;
can’t we just head to our first class or something?’ Adrien thought to himself
while shifting in his seat to get more comfortable. Ten minutes went by and
the Principal was still talking. Adrien began impatiently tapping his right
index finger on the right side of his head, waiting for Mr. Hable to finish his
“Welcoming Speech.” Out of the corner of his eye Adrien noticed something
glowing very close to his head. Adrien whipped his head around to see where it
was coming from but it had vanished. ‘Must have been my
imagination?’ Adrien turned back around and began listening back to what the
Principal was saying. That is until the glowing reappeared. This time it was
coming from his lap. He looked down to see that his right hand began glowing. “What the…?” Adrien
said while holding his hand up, palm facing the wall. It began glowing even
brighter and then suddenly, BOOM!
Chapter
2
The Auditorium burst
into chaos as a loud boom filled the room, the kids began to panic and run for
any exit they could find. Adrien, who had knocked himself out after taking
piece of wall debris to the head awoke and began to slowly get up off the
ground. Smoke and debris dust began to fill the room; Adrien who had regained
his senses looked at his right hand to see that it had returned to normal. ‘I have no idea what
that was, and I’m not sure I want to know.’ Adrien thought to himself. ‘Wait! Where’s Alina?’
Adrien had been so focused on what happened he almost forgot about her. “ALINA?” Adrien yelled
hoping for a reply but got nothing. It was strange he had only just met her a
little while ago but here he was concerned and looking for her like they were
childhood best friends. He searched everywhere but couldn’t find her. He was about
to continue searching for her until the fire fighters entered and escorted him
outside with everyone else. Adrien looked for Alina among the crowd but could
not find her at all. After an hour the fire fighters came back out, luckily
Adrien was standing nearby as one of the fire fighters began talking to the
Principal. “Thankfully nobody was found injured in there; however we are having
a hard time determining what started the explosion.” The fire fighter
explained. Adrien just stood there too nervous to even move. ‘What if someone saw
that it was me who caused it?’ Adrien thought nervously to himself. ‘I don’t even know what
the hell it was that I did!’ Adrien looked around to see if anyone was watching
him. ‘But I intend to find
out.’ With that Adrien slipped away from the crowed and the school. He was
heading to the abandoned forest that no one ever went into, so he could figure
things out. “I am starting to get
why they call it the “abandoned forest”.” Adrien said to himself while getting
deeper in to the woods. The abandoned forest looks like something out of a
nightmare. The trees are all dead, and its only inhabitants are insects and
spiders. That didn’t stop Adrien though; he preferred the solitude of the dead
forest. It was the only place that he could come to clear his head and think.
Once he was deep into the heart of the forest he sat down on a log and looked
at his right hand. “You are not going to
try destroying your favorite place now are you?” Adrien looked up to see a boy
about a year or two older than him, with brunette long hair and brown earthly
eyes walking towards him. Adrien immediately jumped to his feet. “Who are you?” Adrien
asked getting into a defensive stance in case the stranger attacked him. “Easy Adrien, I am a
friend.” The boy said while holding up his hands. “How do you know my
name?” Adrien was on high alert now. “I know everything
there is to know about you Adrien. I know about how when you were in the 4th
grade you cried when the school bully took your favorite pencil and wouldn’t
give it back.” Adrien’s jaw dropped. ‘How did he know about
that?’ he thought to himself while listening to the stranger tell him what he
knows about his life. “I know that you have
never had a girlfriend, never been out on a date, and haven’t even kissed a
girl yet.” Adrien’s jaw hit the ground after the stranger just told him that he
knew about his embarrassing secret. The stranger came closer to Adrien, but
stopped and sat on the log that Adrien was on a few moments ago. He patted the
spot next to him. “Come sit next to me
and I’ll tell you what else I know.” The boy looked at Adrien patiently waiting
for an answer. Adrien looked to the boy and then to the spot next to him, then
back at the boy and back to the spot again. He hesitantly sat down next to the
stranger. The boy spoke again. “Finally I know about
the incident at the high school and I know that you are the one who caused
it.” The stranger finished. Adrien’s
eyes went wide. ‘Who the hell is this
kid?’ He thought to himself while studying the stranger. “I know what’s
happening with you Adrien and I can help.” The boy offers with one of the most
sincere voices Adrien has ever heard. “H-How?” Adrien
hesitantly asked. The boy smiled and then began to answer. “Much like the
“Superheroes” you read about in today’s comics, you have special powers growing
inside of you; but you don’t know how to control them. If you are going to
learn to control them you’ll first have to learn what powers you have.” “Well if you’re the
expert why don’t you show me what your powers are? Maybe then I’ll believe
you.” Adrien said defiantly, he got up to leave when he heard the sound of a
finger snap. Suddenly a bright golden light engulfed Adrien, the boy, and the
entire forest. Adrien had to shield his eyes because of how bright the light
was. After it was gone Adrien slowly removed his hands from his face and opened
his eyes. What he saw was the most amazing thing he had ever seen. The once
dead abandoned forest was now flowing with life. The trees and grass were green.
Animals such as deer, birds, squirrels, and other creatures of the forest now
populated this one. Adrien stood there shocked beyond all belief and looked
back over to the boy who was petting a deer that had come up to him. The boy looked to Adrien, a smile plastered
on his face. “Do you believe me
now?”
Chapter
3
Adrien looked back at
the boy who was patiently waiting for an answer. Adrien just nodded his head. “Now are you ready to
discover your powers?” Adrien nods still unable to speak. The stranger walked
over to Adrien and picked up his left hand and placed it between his two hands,
his left on top and right on bottom. The stranger closed his eyes. “Umm, what are you
doing?” Adrien asked getting a little creeped out that the boy was practically
holding his hand. “I am analyzing your
Omgi to determine what powers you have.” The Stranger answered while continuing
to read Adrien. “Wait hold on? What’s
Omgi? Adrien asked confused. The Stranger smirked. “Omgi is the energy
that people like you give off. I am one of the few that can read Omgi to tell
me what type of powers lie inside you.” Though the stranger explained it,
Adrien was still a bit confused as to what Omgi was? The boy’s eyes opened as
he released Adrien’s hand. A smile plastered clear on his face. “Please tell me you are
smiling because you found out that I don’t have some weird powers, and that I
am a perfectly normal teenager?” Adrien asked hoping that this was hopefully
just a dream and that he would wake up in the school auditorium to the
principal’s lame speech. “No Adrien, The reason
I am smiling is because I have never read someone’s Omgi that is as unique and
powerful as yours.” “So what, I’m a freak?”
Adrien asked not realizing the boy meant it as a good thing. “No Adrien, you are
special, your powers are unlike anything the Omniverse has ever seen.” ‘What the heck is an
“Omniverse”?’ Adrien thought to himself
while still listening to the Stranger. “The Omniverse is a
universe where everything you thought couldn’t exist, does.” ‘Everything I thought
couldn’t exist does? Now what does that mean?’ So far all Adrien was getting
out of this man were more questions than answers. “Can you elaborate on
that please?” Adrien asked getting ready to pay close attention. The boy smiled
at Adrien’s interest. “Now that you have
become part of the Omniverse you will be able to see and hear things that
ordinary humans cannot, things such as Ghost, Vampires, Were Wolves, Angels,
Demons, and Immortals.” The stranger said that like he’d seen them 24/7. ‘I like this less and
less as he goes on. And when you say see?’ Adrien nervously thought to himself.
“You will be able to
pick up on their presence, humans can see vampires and were wolves but cannot
detect them, Omni’s have this an Omnisense that allows you to detect other
Omni’s and other creatures around you. .But in order to do that you will have to
master your powers’.” The boy added in. Adrien did a double take. “Wait, powers,
as in more than one?” He asked confused. “Yes, when I was reading
your Omgi I detected not one but two powers inside of you. One was the power
you accidently used to blow a hole in your school’s auditorium. The other has yet
to exhibit itself.” The boy explained.
Adrien was baffled. ‘How can I have two
powers? I am barely able to wrap my head around having the one!’ “What are my powers
since you clearly seem to have me all figured out?” Adrien asked, not hiding
the sarcastic tone in his voice. The boy smiled knowingly. “As a matter of fact I
do Adrien.” Adrien’s mouth dropped but
he quickly recomposed himself. “Well are you going to
tell me what they are?” Adrien asked hoping for a “yes”. “Why does every Omni
want me to tell them what their powers are?” The boy asked aloud. “Maybe because they’re
a little freaked out and want to know everything that’s going on so that they
don’t have a panic attack!” Adrien practically yelled out the last part. The
man just chuckled. “What is so funny?”
Adrien asked. The boy stopped chuckling and faced Adrien. “That was a rhetorical
question my young friend.” The boy slightly chuckled again. Adrien lost it. “Dude you are like one
year older than me!” He yells out in frustration. The boy smiles back and says
mysteriously. “That is what you think
Adrien.” Putting his left hand on his face Adrien dragged it down in
annoyance. “Look are you going to tell
me what my powers are or not?” Adrien asked. He was starting to get really
frustrated at this guy constantly beating around the bush. “I believe that there
is a word used when you want something from somebody else.” The boy asked while
looking at Adrien expectantly. Adrien rolling his eyes knew what word he was
referring to. “Can you please tell me
what my powers are?” Adrien asked politeness also filling his voice. The boy
smiled and nodded. He retook his seat on the long and patted for Adrien to come
sit back down with him. “Adrien the powers that
lie within you are the powers of Light & Darkness.” The boy told him not
taking his eyes off of Adrien. Adrien looked a little confused at what he had
just been told. “So what? I can control
good and evil?” Adrien asked really not getting the guy’s answer. The boy
laughed. “No Adrien, you can’t
control that, no one can. What I mean by Light & Darkness is that you have
Light’s power to reflect and Darkness’s power to absorb.” That made more sense
than the power to control good and evil explanation that Adrien came up with
but it still didn’t make any sense to Adrien. When he blew that hole into the
Auditorium that wasn’t reflecting or absorption that was shooting a beam of
light out of his hand that had a physical effect on something. “I’m sorry but I still
do not get what you mean. How is blowing a hole in a wall by shooting it with a
beam of light, reflecting?” “Let me explain
further.” The man could tell Adrien was still confused so he knew he had to
explain it in much more depth. “When I say reflect I
really mean you have the power to take light and give it physical form like
shooting beams of light from your hands, and it’s not just that. You can do
more with the power of Light than just shooting beams of white. For example you
can make your hands and feet emit light and use them to defend or attack
someone. There are numerous possibilities with the power of Light that you can
use in the future.” The boy finished his explanation of the power of Light.
Adrien actually seemed to get it, but confusion was still on his face. “But what about the
power of Darkness what does that do? I mean that one hasn’t even shown itself
yet.” Adrien who had been trying so hard to believe that all this wasn’t real
began to take an interest into the powers that he had. Maybe he could finally
accept that what was going on with him was indeed real. “It will, don’t worry.
But to answer your question, the Darkness power has the ability to absorb
energy all around you and turn it into your Light power to make it even more
powerful. It can also be used physically on someone else but Adrien trust me
you do not want to do that.” The boy finished. Adrien seemed to finally understand
what the stranger was saying, although he wanted to know why using the power of
Darkness on someone else was so bad? “Why not? I am not
saying that I am ever going to use these powers on another person but why can’t
you use the power of Darkness on someone?” The boy sighed at Adrien’s question
but decided to answer it. “Because the Darkness
power is a life sucking force. It not only absorbs and takes in energy; it
weakens your opponents making them lose a little bit of their life.” Adriens
eyes widened at that. A very awkward silence followed suit till Adrien decided
to change the subject. “So how will I
control these powers?” Adrien asked finally accepting what he was even though
the power of Darkness still worried him. “I will help you to
learn how, if you will let me?” The stranger offered. Adrien was about to
accept the offer until he realized something… Out of the whole time they had
been talking the boy had yet to tell Adrien his name. “Before I accept your
offer I have to know one more thing first, what is your name?” The boy smiled
because he also remembered that he had yet to introduce himself. “I am JC.”
Chapter
4
“Now
that you know my name, it’s time to begin your training my young friend.” JC
said while standing up from the log that he had previously been sitting on.
Adrien also stood up, ignoring the fact that he was calling him young even
though JC was only like one year older than him. “What
do I have to do?” Adrien asked ready to do whatever JC instructed. “In
order to learn control over your powers you will first have manifest your
Darkness power. So close your eyes and focus on bringing that power to the
surface.” JC instructed. Adrien nodded in confirmation and did as instructed.
He closed his eyes and concentrated on bringing his undiscovered power to the
surface but to no avail. “Concentrate
Adrien, you can do it.” JC encouraged. So Adrien thought harder to make his
Darkness power surface but still nothing. “Just
clear your mind and think only about Darkness and its power to absorb.” JC
added. Suddenly it clicked, Adrien was only thinking about bringing it to the
surface. He wasn’t thinking about what Darkness had the power to do. ‘Absorption.’
Adrien thought hard to himself. ‘Darkness has the power to absorb and you have
the power to bring forth what lies within you.’ Adrien’s conscience encouraged.
The
wind around JC and Adrien began to pick up. JC looked around as leaves began to
fly and trees began to shake. ‘Darkness,
Absorption, Darkness, Absorption.’ Adrien repeatedly thought to himself. A dark
black light slowly began to emit from Adrien. ‘Darkness,
Absorption Darkness, ABSORPTION!!!’ A bright dark black light erupted from
Adrien and engulfed him. It died down to look like a fiery black energy was
surging from his body. Adrien began to feel as if he was getting stronger and
stronger. He opened his eyes to see that his Darkness power had emerged. JC
stood there with a huge smile on his face. ‘He’s
progressing faster than anticipated.’ JC thought to himself. Adrien
never looked so proud of himself in his life. He turned to JC who was smiling
at him. “You
did it, Adrien!” JC congratulated while
walking over to him. His smile faltered however when he saw the forest begin to
die around them. Acting quickly JC told Adrien how to turn off his power. “Now
all you have to do to stop that power is to think about it going back inside
you.” JC instructed while stopping a few feet from him. Adrien nodded and began
to think of what JC had told him to do. Though it took a few minutes the
Darkness power died down until it was no longer emitting from Adrien. “Oh
my God, that was so cool!” Adrien exclaimed. JC nodded in agreement. Adrien was
obvious to the fact that he was slowly killing the forest when his Darkness
power was brought out. “Yes
it was, now that that power has emerged and you have learned to summon it, it’s
now time to learn to call upon your Light power.” Understanding, Adrien closed
his eyes and began working on summoning the power of Light. “Remember
this time you need to think of Lights power to reflect.” “I
got this JC, don’t worry.” Adrien confidently reassured JC. ‘Light,
Reflect,’ Adrien began to think to himself. Again the wind picked up, leaves
blew all around, and the trees began to shake. ‘He’s
summoning this one much faster than the other one. Which is strange because
this power should be a bit more difficult to summon? Then again he did
accidently summon it to blow a hole in his school’s auditorium wall without any
knowledge that he is an Omni… What other surprises are you full of Adrien?’ JC
thought to himself while he watched Adrien try to summon the power of Light. Slowly
but surely a bright white light began to glow from Adrien. It kept getting
bigger and bigger by the minute. As he did this life began to flow back in to
the forest again. ‘Light,
reflect, light reflect, light reflect, LIGHT REFLECT!’ Adrien screamed in his
mind. Just as the Darkness power engulfed Adrien so did the Light power, except
this time it looked like a white fiery energy was emitting from Adrien. JC
clapped his hands together. “Adrien,
you learned to summon your powers faster than any other Omni that I have ever
come across!” JC praised. Adrien opened
his eyes to see that he was surrounded by a white energy which he could only
assume was his Light power. It took a little longer for the Light power to die
down. “You
are progressing well Adrien, but I am afraid we must wrap up for today.” JC
regrettably told him. Adrien looked at him with confusion plastered on his
face. “What?
Why? You haven’t even gotten to the part where you teach me how to use my
powers!” Adrien whined, which for some reason just made JC chuckle. “I
will teach you more things about your powers tomorrow, but for today we are
done. It’s getting late and you’re going to need your rest if you want to learn
to use and control your powers.” Now that Adrien thought about it, it was
starting to get pretty dark out. “Let’s
get going.” JC started to walk until he saw Adrien sitting back down on the
log. Confused JC walked back over to him. “Is
something wrong, Adrien?” Adrien looked up to see JC looking down on him
worriedly. “Yeah,
I don’t want to walk all the way back out of this forest!” Adrien whined. JC
stared blankly at him for a few seconds and then let out a loud laugh. “You
must be tired from using your powers for the very first time. Don’t worry;
everyone is after their first use.” “That
and I just really don’t feel like walking all the way home!” Adrien complained.
Though Adrien didn’t see it, JC smiled knowingly. He walked right up to Adrien.
Noticing, Adrien looked up to see JC smiling from some reason that was unknown
to him. “What?”
Adrien asked getting a little creped out by JC’s smiling and staring down at
him. “What
if I said we didn’t have to walk to get you home?” JC asked with a mysterious
tone. Raising an eyebrow Adrien decided to ask how that was possible. “And
how are we going to do that exactly? It’s not like we can just teleport out of
here!” Adrien said, (sarcasm clearly plastered in his tone). He looked up to
see that JC’s smile had grown bigger. Realizing that’s what JC was implying,
Adrien jumped to his feet. “Whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa JC let’s think about this!”
Adrien had never teleported before and he wasn’t going to take the
chance that something might go wrong, like his molecules being scrambled! JC
ignored Adrien and stepped closer to him. Adrien tried maneuvering around him,
but to no avail. “Can’t
we talk about this!?” Adrien exasperated. “Nope,
just trust me.” JC grabbed Adrien’s shoulder. A bright white light engulfed the
two. A
few moments later the bright light disappeared which allowed Adrien to open his
eyes after previously shutting them, the first thing he did was check his body
over to see if he was missing anything. Thankfully he wasn’t. Adrien turned to
glare at JC but stopped when he noticed what house was behind JC. ‘He
teleported us right in front of my house.’ Adrien bewilderingly thought to
himself. ‘He
can’t know everything about me, can he?’
JC waited patiently for Adrien to finish being amazed before he
teleported himself to his own house. “Th-thanks
for bringing me home JC.” Adrien backed cautiously towards his house. JC tilted
his head to the right. “Adrien,
is something wrong?” JC asked taking a step forward. Adrien took two more steps
back. “Yeah,
the fact that you claim to know everything about me and that you also
teleported us to where I live, would be classified as “something wrong”!” Adrien was in his driveway now. “Adrien,
I thought we established that I am here to help you?” “Yeah,
well it would be easier if I knew more about you seeing how you know all about
me!” Adrien exclaimed. “Adrien
I-” “I
appreciate all the help you have given me JC but until you are ready to tell me
more about who you are, I can’t train under you!” Adrien sprinted inside his
house “Well
that went well JC.” A new mischievous voice appeared. JC knew that voice
extremely well “Samuel!”
JC said with vigilance. “It’s
been a long time…. Cousin” Samuel smirked.
Chapter
5
JC stared into those famous
icy blue eyes. Samuel was 5’9 with jet black hair; he appeared to be in his
early teens like Adrien and JC. His skin color is Caucasian with a little bit
of a tan and he wore all black. “What are you doing
here, Samuel?” JC questioned, not taking his eyes off of Samuel for even a
second. Samuel smirked. “Can’t a guy just visit
an old friend?” Samuel asked innocently. JC rolled his eyes but quickly
refocused them on Samuel. “No, now I’ll ask
again. What are you doing here?” Samuel smirked at JC’s
question. He began to circle around him. “You and I both know
the answer to that.” Samuel glanced at Adrien’s house, which didn’t go
unnoticed to JC. “Adrien.” JC whispered
but was still heard by Samuel. “Yup.” Samuel said
popping the “p”. He stopped when he came face to face with JC. “Leave Adrien alone
Samuel, he has nothing to do with us.” “Correction, he has
become an Omni so now he has everything to do with us.” Samuel stepped closer
to JC. “Doesn’t he JC?” He
asked cockily. They held each other’s calculating stares for a few moments
until finally, “He’s never going to
join you or your Dark Omni’s Samuel; he’s different than the type of people you
recruit.” JC angrily said. Samuel chuckled. “He may be different
than other Omni’s but he’s still a human, and like all humans, even Adrien can
be tempted.” Samuel cockily spat. JC had had enough, and raising his right hand
he blasted Samuel with a teleportation beam. Samuel, caught off
guard, was hit by the beam and teleported back to the forest where Adrien and JC
met. Not long after JC appeared also. “I am warning you
Samuel, stay away from Adrien, he wants nothing to do with people like you!” JC
spat. ‘Finally after all
these years you let your anger show, JC.’ Samuel thought to himself while
chuckling. “What is so funny?” JC
asked agitatedly towards Samuel. Samuel just smirked at the fact that he was
getting under JC’s skin after so long. “It’s nothing, just,
well it’s been awhile since I was able to get any emotional reaction from you,
so then that means you must really care for Adrien’s wellbeing.” Samuel deduced
like an inspector would if he was figuring out a suspect’s motive. “I care about all the
Omni’s that I take under my wing, you know that Samuel.” JC now began to scold.
Samuel rolled his eyes and threw red fiery ball of energy at JC. The energy
struck JC, sending him flying into a nearby group of trees. JC got up and brushed
himself off casually, and looked at Samuel with a “Did you really just do
that?” look. Samuel smirks at him. Taking the smirk as an opportunity, JC shot
a light energy beam at him. Seeing the beam coming, Samuel dodged to the right
and sent his own red beam of energy at JC. Planting his feet, JC held out his
right hand and caught Samuel’s attack. He redirected it. The blast blew away a
small portion of the forest. JC raised his eyebrow towards Samuel. “Why are you holding
back Samuel?” JC questioned. “Because JC, I am not
here to fight you. I’m simply here to raise hell and steal your new protégé.”
Samuel smugly answered. JC frowned at his answer. Samuel smirked and began to
tease him. “Smile more JC, you’ll
live longer.” Samuel winked with hidden meaning. “You’re not funny
Samuel.” “It’s not that I’m not
funny, it’s more like you have no sense of humor, JC.” One of Samuel’s favorite
things was pointing out other’s flaws, especially if they are JC’s. “No, I just have no
sense of Samuel humor.” JC corrected smiling victoriously. Samuel smirked “Aw, but Samuel humor
is the best kind of humor!” Samuel whined and made a puppy dog face. JC did his
usual eye roll which was surprisingly starting to get on Samuel’s nerves. “Yeah, I’m sure killing
and hurting innocent people is everyone’s idea of a good laugh” JC said with
much sarcasm. “Oh come on, JC they
are just humans!” Samuel yelled humorously. Anger surged through JC, he decked
Samuel which made him slide across the grass, leaving a trail of dirt behind
him. “No, you are wrong
Samuel! They are beings with thoughts and feelings; they have nothing to do
with us!” JC pleaded to his old friend. Samuel got up off the ground and
blurred up to JC. “I know that, I just
love to use them for my own personal goals and needs. One of which is tempting
Adrien over to my side.” Samuel winked and smiled sadistically. “Samuel please, you
don’t have to do this!” JC tried pleading some more but Samuel refused to
listen. “See that’s where you
are wrong old friend. I do have to do this, not just for myself but for
everyone else out there that’s a pawn in both our fathers plan, and you and I
both know that Adrien is the key to their plans!” Samuel blurred in front of
JC. “I along with Adrien
and the Dark Omni’s at my side will begin a New Universal Order that will be better
than what your father and mine have planned out for this Universe. I gave you,
my one and only best friend the chance to join me so we could stop them, but
what did you do?!” Samuel screamed. JC looked down in shame. “I betrayed you, and
joined my father’s side.” JC shamefully admitted. Samuel smirked evilly. “Damn right you did.
You know what our fathers plan to do yet you still stick by your father’s side?
That is why I hate you more than you can ever know, because no matter how
terrible your father’s plan turns out to be, you still stick by him after
everything that it is going to do to, not just to ours but to everyone and
everything’s existence. That, JC is why I hate you.” Samuel waved his hand
causing a reddish, blackish portal to appear. “Be seeing you JC”
Samuel winked and then stepped into the portal which closed after he stepped
all the way through. ‘Samuel, if only you
knew the wonderful feeling of a father’s love.’
Chapter
6
Adrien sat on his bed
lost in thought. It had been 2 hours since he told JC that he wasn’t going to
train under him until he explained just who he was. It wasn’t too much to ask
seeing how JC ‘knew everything about Adrien. ‘He was definitely
hiding something.’ Adrien thought to himself. He began to throw an old tennis
ball in the air to help pass the time to dinner, but time just wasn’t moving fast
enough for Adrien. It seemed that since discovering what he is and that he has
powers; time began to move even slower for him. “Omni?” Adrien said
aloud to himself. “I’ve heard of
Vampires, Were Wolves, Angels, Demons, and even the Gods. But not once have I
ever heard of a supernatural being called an Omni?” Adrien set the ball that he
had been tossing around, down. He walked over to his plugged in Laptop and
typed “Omni” into Google. The only thing’s he found relating to “Omni” was
things like “Omniscient “or “Omnipotent.” He came up with zip on beings called
Omni’s. “I need to go out and
think.” Adrien reached for his black & white flannel jacket. Pulling open
his window, Adrien stepped out on to his roof and climbed down the houses fancy
white fence with vines sprouting from it. Jumping a few feet from the fence,
Adrien landed both feet safely on the ground. ‘Been awhile since I
did this!’ Adrien excitedly thought to himself. Whenever he needed to either
clear his head or think, Adrien would always sneak out of the house and go walk
around the town. Just because he is kind of a geek doesn’t mean he always obeys
his parents and his curfew.
Adrien decided to head
to a party that a friend had told him about. It was being held at “The Point”
which was a place in the woods (not the abandoned forest) that teenagers threw
parties at. One of the great things about “The Point” is that it is close to
the lake in case anyone wants to go for a night swim. Adrien could see the cars
of teens parked all around the entrance to “The Point” and the music was
blaring so loud that you could hear it from the parking area. Following behind
some teens that were already starting to drink, Adrien made his way into the
party that was just kicking off. He saw a lot of familiar faces, most from
school, and the rest from around town. The song “Burn it to the Ground” by
Nickelback was blasting all throughout the party. A huge bonfire burned at the
center of “The Point” with sitting logs surrounding it for seats. All around
people were drinking and socializing. Adrien recognized only a few people, the
rest he did not know. He made his way over to a vacant log and sat down. All
around people seemed to be enjoying themselves. ‘Wish I could be as
happy as everyone here.’ Adrien sadly thought to himself. “You look like a guy
who could use a drink my friend?” Startled Adrien jumped up and looked down to
his right to see a boy with icy blue eyes and jet black hair smirking up at him
from the log that he was sitting on. The
kid who looked to be in his about the same age or a year older than him held,
he out a plastic cup full of beer for Adrien to take. “Geez, you startled
me!” Adrien exclaimed trying to regain his breath. The guy just smirked some
more and held the cup of beer higher for Adrien to take. “Here it will help
loosen you up a bit.” The guy insisted. Adrien looked from the drink to the
guy. “Uh, no thanks, I’m not
much of a drinker.” Adrien politely declined. The guy just laughed. “Neither is anyone else
here kid, well except me of course.” The guy cockily said while winking at
Adrien. Adrien raised an eyebrow. “I
don’t know, some of the kids here have been drinking since they were 10 or 11, Adrien
said looking around at some of the people here. The guy rolled his eyes
unimpressed. “I’ve been doing it a
lot longer than they have.” The guy mumbled to himself while taking a drink of
the beer he originally offered Adrien. “I’m sorry did you say
something?” Adrien asked confused if the guy had said something to him or if he
was just talking to himself. “Nope, not a thing.”
The guy smugly responded while taking another drink. “Oh, okay.” Adrien
sighed. The two sat in silence for a few minutes not knowing how to continue
with their small talk. Adrien decided to break the silence by introducing
himself. “Hi I’m Adrien, Adrien
Hinson.” Adrien introduced holding out his hand for a handshake. The boy looked at it
for a few moments before returning the shake; he let out a small smirk. “Samuel.” Adrien waited for the
guy to say his last name but it never came. “Don’t you have a last
name?” “Nope.” Samuel winked.
Adrien was getting a little annoyed at Samuel’s wink. “Oh come on, everyone
has a last name!” Adrien exclaimed. Samuel smirked and took a drink. “Well, I am not
everyone.” Samuel simply stated. Adrien raised his eyebrow at him. ‘Tell that to all the
bad boy’s from TV and books that you are ripping off with the way you dress and
act.’ Adrien humorously thought to himself. Unbeknownst to Adrien, Samuel
rolled his eyes. “I am like you Adrien.”
Samuel stated with the most seriousness he had ever used. “You’re a geek too?!”
Adrien asked shocked as someone as cool as he looked was secretly a geek.
Samuel widened his eyes and raised his right eyebrow. “What?! God no!” Samuel
exclaimed. ‘Do I look like I could
be a geek?’ Samuel mentally asked himself. “Well, then I don’t get
it. How are you like me?” Adrien asked genuine confused and curious about
Samuel’s answer. “Well for one, you and
I are both part of the Omniverse.” Samuel finished his beer as the color from
Adrien’s face drained.
Chapter
7 “I-I
don’t know what you are talking about?” Adrien stuttered out. He tried getting
up but Samuel’s left hand was on Adrien’s shoulder keeping him from getting up. “You know exactly what
I am talking about Adrien, and don’t even try to deny it.” Samuel cockily
ordered. Adrien didn’t know what to do. Should he keep trying to deny it or
just come clean to some guy who even seemed even more mysterious than JC? “Earlier today you met
an “acquaintance “of mine.” Samuel stated. Only one person came to Adrien’s
mind. “JC.” Adrien whispered.
“Bingo.” Samuel
smirked. “How do two know each
other?” Though he did not want to think about the events of earlier today, he
was going to have to. “Sorry but I don’t do
the whole “Tell a stranger all about my past, “thing.” Samuel sarcastically
answered. “Then can you at least
tell me just what the hell is it that you and JC want with me?” Adrien bitterly
asked. Samuel chuckled in amusement because it was easy to get under Adrien’s
skin. “You’ll find out
eventually, trust me.” Samuel winked at Adrien hoping to get even more inside
his head. “I’m not sure I want to
find anything out at all.” Adrien sighed while leaning back on the log. He
refused to meet Samuel’s eyes. “You know, you are
different from all the other Omni’s” Samuel encouragingly said. Adrien, shocked
at the compliment, decided to ask why. “What makes me so
different than them?” “Well for one, they
don’t whine and cry as much as you do.” Adrien glared at Samuel
for his answer. “I don’t whine or cry!”
Adrien defended. “Well I haven’t seen
you cry yet but you have been whining an awful lot today.” Samuel triumphantly
stated. Adrien narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean by
“awful lot today”?” Samuel just smirked and
smiled. “Oh, just that I’ve
been watching you since the incident at the High School.” Samuel hair-ragingly
said. The color in Adrien’s face had drained again. “Yo-You have been
watching me this whole ti-time?” Adrien
worriedly asked. Samuel made no move to hide arrogant smirk. He nodded in
confirmation and excused himself so he could go get another drink. ‘Then that means he
knows about my powers, and that I know how to call upon them.’ Adrien thought
to him while watching Samuel get his drink. Samuel looked back over his right
shoulder and winked at Adrien. Alarms went off in Adrien’s head. ‘S**t! Can he hear what
I am thinking?’ Adrien distressingly thought. ‘I came here to get
away from all of this Omni crap, and instead it follows me!’ Adrien glanced back
at Samuel who had started up a conversation with a group of female seniors. ‘I have to get out of
here; I have to get away from him.’ Adrien looked all around for an escape
route. The closest thing to that was the trail to the lake, which Adrien did
not mind at all, because he ran for it. Samuel, who was about to
get the girl’s numbers until he saw Adrien take off towards the lake trail out
of the corner of his left eye. He rolled his eyes in annoyance. ‘Run all you like
Adrien, you can’t escape me or your destiny.’
Adrien was tiring fast! ‘I knew I should have
jogged over the summer.’ He thought to himself while continuing to run down the
trail. He looked back over his shoulder to make sure Samuel wasn’t following
him. Adrien was relieved to find no one behind him. He turned around just in
time to see that he had made it to the lake. Relief flowed through Adrien as he
came to a stop. However, that was short lived when he heard a familiar voice. “Dude, what took you so
long?” Samuel cockily asked. Adrien look over in fear to see Samuel casually
leaning against a tree. He had his arms crossed, and was staring Adrien down
with his piercing icy blue eyes. “H-how did y-you g-get
h-here s-so fa fast?” Adrien shockingly asked. Samuel smirked while sticking
his hands in his black polo jeans. “Sorry but that’s
something you’ll have to figure out for yourself someday.” Samuel stopped
directly in front of Adrien. “Now I am curious as to
where it is that you thought you could escape to?” Samuel asked rubbing his
chin in cocky thought. ‘There is something
seriously not right about this guy.’ Adrien thought to himself while trying to
come up with a fake answer. “Escaping? I wasn’t
escaping, I was uh… Going for a swim!” Adrien hurriedly blurted out. Samuel
raised his eye brow questionably at Adrien’s answer to his question. “A swim?” Samuel asked. “A swim.” Adrien
confirmed. Samuel took a few moments to ponder Adrien’s answer. He walked back
and forth a few times. He glanced at Adrien a few times as he did so. He came
to a stop and faced Adrien with an amused look. “Well then by all
means, don’t let me stop you.” Samuel motioned towards the lake. Adrien looked
from Samuel to the lake. ‘Shoot, I didn’t plan
this far ahead!’ Adrien deridingly thought. Samuel smirked. “Well, are you going in
or not?” Samuel questioned while stepping closer to Adrien. “Well I-uh.” Adrien
didn’t know what to do. “I knew it, you were
lying to me. Do you know what happens to the people that lie to me Adrien?”
Samuel menacingly asked. Adrien backed up while. Samuel’s hands began to glow
red and black. “I’ll tell you what
happens they…….!” (Bam!) Samuel was struck by a golden light that
knocked him into the water. “Leave Adrien alone!” A
familiar voice called out to Samuel. Adrien looked over to see JC approaching
them, his hands glowing bright gold.
Chapter 8
Samuel
got up on his hands and knees in the water. His hands sank a little in the sand
as he pushed himself up to stand. “JC,
what an unsuspected and very unpleasant surprise!” Samuel sarcastically said
while turning around to face JC and Adrien. He looked down at his now soaked
clothes. “This
outfit wasn’t cheap you know?” Samuel directed towards JC. He began to make his
way back towards the shore when, JC held out his right hand in a stop position “Don’t
come any closer Samuel.” JC warned, making his hand glow even brighter to show
that he wasn’t kidding around. Samuel smirked. “Well,
alright but if I can’t come over there then you’ll have to come here!” Samuel
yelled while making a pulling motion with his hand at JC. JC went flying into
the water where Samuel was. He skidded to a halt at Samuel’s feet. Samuel bent
down to JC and mocked. “Doesn’t
feel so good, does it?” Samuel lifted him up to his feet. JC took this
opportunity to slug Samuel in the face. The punch caused Samuel to move a few
feet backwards. “Alright,
if that’s how you want to play it?” Samuel made his hands glow red and black.
He charged at JC who got into a defensive stance. Samuel front punched JC, but
it was deflected. JC tried a right hook but Samuel ducked under it and
delivered a left upper cut to JC’s stomach. JC winced and gasped as he took the
full blow of Samuel’s uppercut. JC dropped to his knees and Samuel triumphantly
stood over him. “I
always was the better fighter.” Samuel mocked. JC took the opportunity to do a
sweep kick knocking Samuel onto his back. “True
but you were and still are easily distracted by your own vanity!” JC hooked
Samuels left leg with his left arm and pushed up on his heel with his right
hand, sending Samuel falling into the water. Acting fast JC jumped on Samuel’s
chest, pinning his arms down. “GET
OFF ME!” Samuel angrily screamed. His Omgi spiked exponentially. Adrien,
who had been watching Samuel and JC duke it out, dropped to his knees because
he was having trouble breathing ‘Wha-what’s
going on?’ Adrien gasped. JC who had heard Adrien’s cry instantly knew what was
wrong. ‘I
didn’t tell him that Omgi can also be used to hurt people!’ Guilt flooded
through JC. Samuel
seen JC’s worried glance towards Adrien. He smiled knowingly. “Your
caring will be your downfall.” Samuel perceptively said while raising the level
of his Omgi. Adrien dropped to his stomach. It felt as if a he was being
crushed by an unseen force. “Alright,
alright I’m off!” JC quickly got off of Samuel. “Now stop hurting Adrien.” He
pleaded. Samuel quickly got up. He looked at JC amusingly. “As
you wish.” Samuel ceased using his Omgi. Adrien
felt relieved when air refilled his lungs. He slowly but surely got back up to his
feet. JC
sent a fierce glare towards Samuel. “I
don’t think trying to kill Adrien is the best way to get him to join your side
Samuel.” JC angrily said through clenched teeth. Samuel smirked; he quickly
glanced over at Adrien who after regaining his breath sent a death glare
towards him. Samuel just smiled and waved at Adrien. He turned his attention
back towards JC who was still cautiously watching him. “Oh
lighten up JC; I wasn’t actually going to kill him!” Somehow JC didn’t believe
him. “So
Adrien?” Samuel called over his shoulder. Adrien scowled at him but Samuel
wasn’t fazed by it. “How
does it feel, to know that Omgi can be used as a weapon?” Samuel jeeringly
asked. Adrien
took a moment from staring at Samuel to think about his question. ‘How
could JC not tell me that Omgi can also be used to hurt people?’ Adrien
distrustfully thought to himself. ‘If JC really wanted to help me, shouldn’t he
of told me about that?’ Adrien began to doubt himself, and JC. So far Samuel
was the only one who gave him more of the truth than JC. But there just wasn’t
something right about him, well, also with JC but more of that feeling radiated
from Samuel than JC. Adrien had just about enough of both their games. ‘Why
can’t they just leave me the hell alone?’ Adrien furiously thought to himself.
Unknown to Adrien his own Omgi began to exponentially rise. To Samuel and
Adrien it looked like a black and white fiery energy began to surround Adrien. JC
seemed shocked, while Samuel was impressed. The Omgi got bigger and stronger
causing JC and Samuel to wince in pain. ‘He’s
more powerful than initially thought!’ JC thrillingly thought. Samuel however
was having a very different thought. ‘I-It
really is him!’ He stunningly thought to himself. Adrein
raised both of his hand’s at both JC and Samuel. In an anger filled rage he
shot two black and white energy beams at them. Still thinking to themselves in
awe, JC and Samuel had no time to block Adrien’s attacks. They hit them dead on
knocking them far out into the lake. Adriens’
Omgi died back down to its undetectable rate. Not knowing what exactly just
happened, Adrien looked all around but didn’t see Samuel or JC anywhere. ‘WHAT
IN GOD’S NAME DID I JUST DO???’ Adrien inwardly screamed to himself. He looked
at his hands with tremendous fear. Adrien had thought that he completely
obliterated Samuel and JC because he wasn’t in control of what he did. It was
like an instinct had come over him, instructing him to defend himself from
those two. ‘I
just need to get the hell away from all of this and back to the sanctity of my
home!’ Not wasting any time, Adrien ran all the way back home. Unbeknownst
to him two pairs of air bubbles had surfaced from the lakes deep end. Since
they were struck at the same time, both Samuel and JC emerged to the surface.
They both shot each other knowing looks. “I
hate to admit it, but that actually hurt a little.” Samuel said while rubbing
his chest with the lake water. JC though agreeing sighed in annoyance. “Let’s
focus on swimming back to dry land.” JC began to swim towards shore leaving an
amused Samuel behind. “Why
the hell are you swimming, when you can just teleport to the shore?” Samuel
annoyingly called to JC. JC
stopped swimming and turned back around to face a smirking Samuel. “Because,
like Adrien I to want to at least try to live a normal life, and do normal
human things.” Samuel
scoffed at JC’s declaration. ‘Be
a human? You have got to be kidding me?’ Samuel thought bitterly. The mere idea
of trying to be something you’re not, not only angered Samuel, but disgusted
him! They were not human, and were never going to be. ‘Now
I am not just here for Adrien, JC.’ Samuel callously smiled. ‘Now
I’m here to make you embrace what you really are!’
Chapter 9
Two
weeks later:
Magdalene
High’s Auditorium wall had been rebuilt after Adrien accidently blew a massive
hole into it. The faculty decided to not to try and continue with their
traditional Auditorium welcome. Instead they just had students report to their
first period class. For Adrien, that was Advanced English. Ever since he first
learned to write, Adrien knew that he wanted to be a writer. He wanted to write
all sorts of things like books, movies, comics, and etc. Anything that Adrien
could write about, he would. That’s why not only is he in Advanced English, but
also chose Creative Writing class as one of his electives. The best thing was
that it wasn’t just a onetime thing; you could keep at it all the way through
until you graduated. That’s what Adrien planned to do. As
he was walking down the hall to class, Adrien noticed a big crowd of students
which usually meant one thing. ‘A
fight.’ Adrien thought to himself while rolling his eyes. It amazed him how
students had nothing better to do than beat the s**t out of each other during
school hours. It’s like really, you can’t do that on your own time? Squeezing
through the crowd Adrien resumed searching for the room that the CW class was
in. ‘330,
331, 332.’ Adrien inwardly counted the numbers of the rooms in his head. ‘Ah
here we go, Room 333!’ He had found the Creative Writing class. Opening the
door, Adrien walked into an empty classroom. ‘Okay,
I understand the other students not being here right away, but shouldn’t the
teacher be here before me?’ Shrugging, Adrien chose the front center desk to
sit in. Slipping his bag off, Adrien unzipped it and took out a pencil, a 5
subject notebook, and the agenda that the school gave him. Setting the said
objects on his chosen desk, Adrien patiently waited for others to arrive.
Slowly but surely the classroom began to fill up with other students that chose
Creative Writing as an elective. With the desks all filled, the only thing the
students waited on was the teacher. Having gotten bored the first few minutes,
Adrien got out his personal notebook and began drawing sketches and writing
down ideas. Just as Adrien was about to start jotting down another idea the
final bell rang. A short moment after that the class room door opened, and
there stood the hottest chick Adrien had ever laid eyes on. “Sorry
I wasn’t here early everyone, I had to finish up some paper work at the main
office.” The woman explained while heading over to the white board. She picked
up the purple ‘Expo’ marker and began writing down her name. When she finished
her name was nicely written in cursive. The teacher capped the marker and
pointed to her name. “My
name is Ms. Kar.” She sweetly introduced herself. “And I am your teacher for
Creative Writing,” she kindly explained. ‘There
is a God!’ Adrien and the rest of the male portion of the class thought. Ms.
Kar went on further to explain what they will be doing this year and also the
rules of the classroom. “Now
that we have that all settled let’s get down to your first class assignment.”
Ms. Kar began while leaning on her teacher’s desk. Everyone had their pencils
and notebooks ready so they could write their assignment down. “This
assignment can’t be done by pencil and paper.” Ms. Kar giggled. Everyone looked
at her weirdly. She just shrugged it off. “I
want all of you to take 10 minutes to introduce yourselves to your fellow
classmates, and while you’re doing that I’ll be walking around, introducing
myself to you personally, and taking attendance.” Ms. Kar picked up a clipboard
and a pen. “Well,
what’s everyone waiting around for? Get to it already!” She waved her hands in
the ‘Get up’ motion. Reluctantly they all got up and began to introduce
themselves. Adrien
however, was not the type to just go up and talk to a total stranger. He
usually just let them come to him. Seeing
that Adrien wasn’t going to introduce himself anytime soon, a young man about
the same age as Adrien decided to introduce himself. “Hi
I’m Michael, Michael Greyman.” The young man held out his hand to Adrien for a
handshake. “Oh,um?”
Adrien stammered at first but then found his voce. “Hi my name is Adrien,
Adrien Hinson.” Adrien accepted Michael’s hand. “So,
you into writing?” Michael asked hoping to start up a conversation. “Um,
yeah it’s kind of my passion.” Adrien admitted. Michael nodded in
understanding. “What
about you? Do you like writing?” Adrien asked hoping to share something in
common with Michael. “A
little bit yeah, but drawing is more of my passion.” Michael told, glad that he
found someone who has a similar passion to his. This time it was Adrien’s turn
to nod in understanding. “So
what kind of things do you write about Adrien?” Michael asked in interest.
Adrien thought about the question for a second before answering. “Well,
usually anything that comes to mind, how about you? What do you draw about?”
Adrien patiently waited for a response. Michael did the same thing as Adrien;
he took a second to think about the question. “Same
as you I suppose.” Michael mused. They were about to continue with their
conversation when Ms. Kar came up to them. “You
two seem to be getting along well.” Ms. Kar deduced. Momentarily stunned by
their hot teacher, the boys didn’t answer right away. “Are
you two okay?” Ms. Kar worriedly asked. “Huh,
what? Oh yeah we’re fine, and we are getting along just fine.” Michael answered
for both himself and Adrien. Ms. Kar smiled. “Well
that’s good to hear. So what’s your name?” Ms. Kar waited for answer so she can
mark down that he was indeed in this class and that he was here. “Michael
Greyman.” Michael answered. Ms. Kar scanned her clip board looking for
Michael’s name on her list. “Greyman,
Greyman , Greyman?” She thought out loud. “Oh here you are, Michael Greyman.”
She put a check next to his name marking that he was here. She turned and faced
Adrien. “And
how about you sweetie, what’s your name?” Ms. Kar patiently waited for Adrien
to tell her his name. ‘Damn
it Adrien quit checking her out and just tell her your name already!’ His
conscience scolded him. “It’s
Adrien Hinson.” Adrien shyly told. Ms. Kar began her search for his name. “Hinson,
Hinson, Hinson?” She smiled brightly when she found it. “Ah,
yes, here we go, Adrien Hinson!” She checked his name off. “It was nice meeting
you two and I’m sure we’ll be getting to know more about one another over the
course of this semester. Welcome to Creative Writing boys.” Ms. Kar winked at
them and then left to resume taking attendance. Both boys’ faces were
completely flushed.
Chapter 10
The
second period bell rang, effectively ending first period. Adrien gathered his
stuff and made for the door. “Yo,
Hinson wait up!” Michael called after Adrien. Adrien stopped and stepped to the
right of the door so people could exit. Michael stuffed all his stuff into his
bag, zipped it up and made his way to Adrien. They both walked out of the door
and checked their schedules to see what their next class was. Adrien had Earth
Science next while Michael had Essential Math. They both went their separate
ways when they came to the stairs. Adrien went up the stairs while Michael went
down them. He checked his schedule again to see what the classroom number was. “Room
409 with Fred Kowanes.” Adrien looked up at one of the rooms to read its
number. He was surprised to find that he wasn’t too far from his destination.
In fact his class was 3 doors down on the left. ‘For
one of the biggest schools in the district, this place is kind of easy to
navigate.’ Adrien triumphantly thought to himself when a familiar voice
interrupted his thoughts. “Adrien?”
Adrien looked to see who had called his name. He was shocked when he saw Alina
coming toward him in a beautiful short sleeved red tube top, and tight dark
blue jeans. “A-Alina?”
Adrien hadn’t seen her since the auditorium incident; she looked completely
different from when he first met her. “You
look amazing!” Adrien nervously squeaked out, a blush creped its way on to
Alina’s face. “Thanks.”
Alina thanked Adrien, but frowned when she remembered something. “Hey
where’d you go when the explosion in the Auditorium happened?” Alina
suspiciously asked. Adrien inwardly panicked. ‘Oh
s**t what do I say?’ He nervously thought. ‘Oh, I ran away because it was me
who caused the explosion, and then I met this weird guy named JC who told me I
was something that I never heard of before and that I have these weird powers?
And after that I met this other guy named Samuel who tried getting me to join
him, but was interrupted by JC, they got into this huge fight, that ended when
I blasted both of them into the lake!’ Adrien rambled to himself. ‘Yeah tell
her that and she’ll personally call the mental institution!’ “Oh
I decided to head home, because the explosion really shook me up, you know with
it being so close to us and all?” Adrien lied. Alina seemed to accept Adrien’s
answer. “So,
what class you heading to?” She asked. “Earth
Science with Mr. Kowanes, how about you?” Alina’s
mouth formed an “O” shape for a split second but she quickly composed herself. “I
have him as well!” “Really?
When?” Adrien asked interested. Alina
smiled. “I have him next as well, Adrien.” He didn’t know why but having Alina
in one of his classes made him feel very happy. “Um,
we should probably be getting to class.” Adrien snapped out of his inner
thoughts and made his way over to Mr. Kowane’s class, Alina followed close
behind.
Mr.
Kowanes did the same thing Ms. Kar did and just explained what they would be
doing for the school year. Adrien barely paid attention to Mr. Kowanes speak,
because he kept glancing at Alina, there was just something about her that drew
him in. The day so far was pretty normal and boring compared what he called the
“Omni Discovery” which was two weeks ago. He hadn’t heard from JC or Samuel
since then. Adrien decided that he didn’t want either of their help, and that
he would teach himself to control and use his Omni powers with their tutelage.
Of course he hadn’t said that to their faces mostly because he hadn’t seen them
as of late, and because he is a little bit afraid of them and what they might
bring into his life. There was something implied when those two were fighting
out by the lake. ‘Something
very bad must have happened between those two to cause that much bad blood.’
Adrien thought to himself. He was so deep in thought that he hadn’t noticed the
bell ring. The other students hurriedly gathered their stuff and left the class
room. “Have
a good day and see all of you Wednesday!” Mr. Kowanes called after everyone. He
watched as his new sophomore class exited his classroom. He turned back around
towards the desk to see that one of his students had not left yet. Casually
grabbing his clipboard which held the class seating chart, Mr. Kowanes scanned
it to figure out who it was. ‘Adrien
Hinson?’ He looked over to who he hoped was Adrien. It was really embarrassing
when you got someone’s name wrong. “Something
wrong, Sir?” Mr. Kowanes asked in a laid back manner. Adrien
quickly snapped out of his thoughts and looked up to see the teacher was
looking at him with a mixture of concern and humor. “Huh?
What?” It took a minute to figure out that Adrien was the only one left in the
class room. “Did
the 3rd period bell already ring?” Adrien asked Mr. Kowanes
confused. Mr. Kowanes chuckled. “Why
yes sir, it did, but don’t worry you have plenty of time to get to your next
class!” Mr. Kowanes confidently encouraged. Adrien smiled at his teacher’s
obvious attempt at a good after class, first impression. Quickly gathering up
all his stuff and putting it into his bag, Adrien hurriedly made for the door,
but not before hearing Mr. Kowanes call out to him. “You
know Mr. Hinson…….. if you ever need someone to talk to about anything, I do
stay after school. Mr. Kowanes had finally become a little more serious then
over the course of second period. Adrien smiled and nodded. “I’ll keep that in
mind Mr. K.” Adrien had decided to give Mr. Kowanes a nickname because besides
Ms. Kar, Mr. Kowanes was his favorite teacher so far. Mr. K. nodded in
agreement. “Have
a good day, Sir.” Mr. Kowanes bid farewell. “Thanks,
you too!” Adrien called back while rushing down the hall to his next class.
Chapter 11
JC
sat alone in the local Magdalene diner. For a drink he ordered a sweet tea with
a lemon attached on the cup. For food he decided to get a cheeseburger with a
side of fries. Reaching down, JC brought the burger to his lips. He was about
to take a bite when he felt a very familiar presence sit across from him. “You
know that goes straight to your thighs, right?” Samuel’s natural cocky voice
asked from across the table. Sighing, JC
set the burger down and looked up to see Samuel smirking at him. “What
do you want, Samuel?’ JC asked expectantly. Samuel lightly chuckled while
putting his arm around the back of his chair. “Well,
for starters...” Samuel reached across the table and took some of JC’s French
fries. “Something to eat.” He finished while plucking the fries into his
mouth. JC glared at Samuel for stealing
his food. “What
is it you really want?” JC asked clearly annoyed at Samuel’s antics. “Always
straight to the point, never anytime for fun.” Samuel mocked JC’s seriousness.
If not for being in public JC would have blasted that smug smile right off of
Samuel’s face. “If
you are through wasting my time?” JC began to get up but was stopped by
Samuel’s right hand grabbing his arm.
“I
was just about to explain my reason for being here, until you so rudely stood.”
This time it was Samuel’s turn to be annoyed. Rolling his eyes JC slowly sank
back into his seat. “This
better be good Samuel.” JC warned. Samuel smirked at JC’s lame threat. JC
waited patiently for Samuel to begin speaking. “As
you know JC, our young friend Adrien refuses to train under either one of us.”
Samuel explained. JC‘s silence was the signal for Samuel to keep talking. “But what about if we
temporarily called a truce so we can jointly “train” him?” Samuel offered. JC was shocked that Samuel
was willing to put off his hatred for JC just so he could train Adrien. Maybe
he was finally starting to change. “Of course this changes
nothing between us JC.” Samuel quickly added. Well, that certainly flushed JC’s
theory down the drain. JC thought about Samuel’s offer for a few minutes. “What is it that you
gain from this, Samuel?” He asked. Samuel smirked hugely. “To tempt Adrien of
course! What else would I be doing this for?” ‘So that’s what this is
really about, if we could jointly train Adrien to use his Omni powers then that
would make it easier for Samuel to convince him to join his side!’ JC inwardly
deduced. JC wasn’t going to let that happen. The only way he could stop Samuel
is if he could convince Adrien to join him and not Samuel. He would agree to
the plan but first he needed hear more about it. “Think about it, you
know as well as I do that even bigger baddies then myself will be after him.
He’ll need our guidance if he’s going to be able to fight against them.” Samuel
finished, hoping to gain the trust of his former friend. “Let’s say I agree to
your offer?” JC began. “How would we “jointly train him?” He asked. Samuel
smiled hugely. “Easy, you teach him
how to control and use his powers, while I teach him how to fight. As a show of
good faith how about we each get to monitor the other’s training session?”
Samuel offered. JC thought about his offer. ‘It does seem fair,
plus I’ll be able keep an eye on both him and Adrien.’ However, there still was
just one other issue. “Just how exactly are
we going to get Adrien to agree to our “Joint” training? We’re not exactly his
favorite people right now.” JC referred to when Adrien blasted both him and
Samuel into the lake just a few weeks ago. “Are you kidding? He
has powers unlike any other Omni that we have encountered. The greater his
power, the greater danger he is to himself and the others around him.” Samuel
explained. “He’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.” He paused for a breath
of air. “And we are the only ones that can diffuse him.” Samuel was about to
finish but remembered to add one final question in. “So are you in?” Samuel
asked while holding out his hand for a hand shake. JC shook Samuel’s hand. “I’m in Samuel.” Samuel
grinned enigmatically.
Chapter
12
“Director, we’ll be
approaching Magdalene, Pennsylvania in 20 minutes.” Agent Shawn Niles of O.C.C.
said to his commanding officer. Director Frederick Wilson of the Ghost funded
organization known simply as Omni Containment and Control or O.C.C for short. Frederick
turned around to address the Agent that had informed him. “Thank you Agent
Niles.” He along with a team of his best
Agents and Scientists were heading down to Magdalene to investigate some omngi
readings that the Research department had picked up just a few weeks ago.
Though O.C.C was a ghost organization they still were one of the leading
technological organizations on the planet. It was started when the first Omni
appeared just over 14 years ago. In his
mid 30’s Frederick began O.C.C when a mysterious benefactor made Wilson aware
that Omni’s and other such being’s with power’s existed. At first he was shocked
to learn that the creatures he read about like Vampires and Were Wolves
actually existed. Though he eventually warmed up to the idea it still took a
little more convincing. Let’s just say that after his first field mission he
was definitely a believer. “Do we have the
location of the last energy reading?” Frederick asked one of the researchers. “Uh, the last known
reading was near…” The researcher pulled up the information on his computer. “St. Peter Lake which
happens to be located in Magdalene.” The researcher finished. “Good then that’s where
we’ll start looking. Go tell the driver to head to this St. Peter Lake.” Frederick ordered
Agent Niles. “Yes Sir!” Shawn
quickly left to carry out the Director’s orders. The vehicle they were
traveling in was a high tech tractor trailer that looked just like a normal one
except for the fact that it was bigger and longer than your average semi.
Frederick and his team were located in the trailer attached to the semi. Unlike
your regular tractor trailers, this one you could go from the truck to the
trailer by a metal door. Think of it as a mobile operating base. Frederick sat at the
nearly unbreakable glass table in the center of the trailer. Frederick was both feared and respected by his
subordinates. He was known for using any tactic it took to complete the mission
and he was more ruthless than an angry dragon. “Director F., the
satellite photos from 2 weeks ago just arrived by fax.” An Agent brought over a
file with some photos in it. He handed them to Frederick. “Thank you Agent Wilson
that will be all.” Frederick relieved him. Agent Zachary Wilson smirked. “Could have at least
said thank you, dad.” Wilson mumbled while walking away. Frederick shot him a
glare as he walked away. ‘One day that mouth of
his is going to get him in to serious trouble.’ he thought to himself while
opening the files and looking at the photos. The photo was taken by an Omgi
reading satellite sent discreetly into space to spy on Omni’s all across the
world. This particular photo caught his eye, because he was looking at the most
powerful energy reading that he has ever seen. Right in the center of the photo
a Black and White light of energy glowed brighter than the two other energies
on the photo. “Tell the driver to go
faster!” Frederick ordered to anyone that would take it. “Whoever you are, Omni,
I want you and I want you now.” Frederick smiled as he began to form a plan in
his head.
