To My DaughterA Story by DarkRainbowPieIn school, we had the task of writing a letter to our future son or daughter for them to read when we, their parents, had passed on. Just found mine there, so I thought I'd share. My dearest Violet,
If you are reading this, I am no longer with you in the physical. Death is a hard issue to deal with, but my darling, stay strong. I know I'm not there to hold you tightly, dry your tears, run my fingers through your soft blonde hair and promise you everything will be okay, but it will be. You know I loved you so much, you were the brightest star ever to shine in my life, and I had never felt happier than on the day you were born. From the second I saw you, you were my Violet, and I knew you would blossom into the most brilliant flower the earth had ever seen.
I hope, Violet, that you are not struggling with this loss. I may not be around to see, or touch, or hold, but by all means I am there to love, to cherish, and to look out for. I will ALWAYS be with you; in your thoughts, in your memories, in your heart. You have not lost me completely, and you never will. My god, was I always this cheesy? Anyways, cheesy or not, this is all heartfelt.
Promise me that you will never be afraid to be yourself, to fight for what you believe in. Know that you are who you are, and you, my dear, are amazing. Accept yourself for who you are, never let anyone put you down; be that person, and love that person as much as I do... if that's possible. (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.)
Darling, there's so much to say, but never enough time. I wish I had the chance to sit you down to a big cheesy 'Mommy' lecture, but I think this will do. Look out for your brother, won't you? My little Seth is only young, please make sure he knows the extent of my love, and doesn't forget me. I lost my own father when I was around his age, and with his death being hidden from me, I lost all memories of him. Just tell him Mommy is gone to a new, magic place, where he'll see me soon. And as for your father; please tell him I love him, every day. Won't you? Mom x © 2013 DarkRainbowPieAuthor's Note
