Music Box

Music Box

A Poem by DarkestStoryline

music out of a box

the melody around my heartstrings

as the notes flow through my veins

an incomplete tune at times

but a lovely one at that

it caresses my ears

and drowns stress,

replacing it with ballerinas and swans

your voice used to complete its tune

its melody tied our heartstrings in a knot

you’d twist and rewind, twist and rewind

you’d let it play on and on

and I’d let you sing

but now I just let it play and play and play

until one day I shut the lid

just like how you shut me out
