Summary: Set in Legacies 3x__"?" What if Kat was there in their sci-fi trip, but it wasn't based on any stories any of them wrote? What if their trip wasn't sci-fi? What if it was based on the past, but not the Saltzman past?
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was a nebulous night, as a human Kat stood at the treeline of the woods. She'd been here since she'd died, but wasn't sure if it was a prison world or not. Seeing people in the distance though, she figured it was probably just another reality. After all, why would hell or a prison world bring someone that she'd never met before, but would never dream of hurting? She wasn't certain who the other two were, but she assumed if she was Hope, they had to be Alaric's girls. She wasn't sure, because she hadn't seen them since she'd been a demon. During that time, she'd done things. After dying and ending up here, nothing more than a human, she regretted what she'd done as a demon. After a few minutes of watching them, she headed in their direction, hoping they could all just help each other get out. They were all in a field, which was a distance from some woods, trying to figure out where they were and why. It seemed to be Mystic Falls, but different. The last thing they remembered was seeing a sort of Dark Vader thing. Now, they were somewhere else. Suddenly, they saw someone approaching them. She looked vaguely familiar to Ric's girls, but couldn't remember who she was. "Who are you?" Hope asked. "Elijah and Damon's ex. Katherine. Wasn't expecting to end up here, but I guess I'm here. I also assume that this is some kind of reality," Kat replied. "You were a demon last time you were alive. How are you a human?" Hope asked her. "Beats me," she replied. "But after my last death, I've changed. I'm different as a human. Since we don't know where we are, we might as well find out where, why, and how to get out. It can't be too much harder than it is with a prison world. What do you say? Are you three up for a challenge?" Although the former vampiress had said she'd changed, and though she seemed different, Hope still had to be sure that she wasn't going to be the same person that her dad had hated for so long. "How do I know that we can trust you not to go off on your own?" she inquired. "Because you're more than a human, and I'm smart enough not to double cross the supernatural as a human," Kat told her, telling her something believable that she knew she couldn't go back on. Anything else she'd said probably would've been thought to be her lying. But truthfully, she wasn't up for lying to anyone. And no matter what she'd done throughout the centuries, she never would've put children in danger. Especially, Klaus' daughter. The Gilbert kids just happened to be collateral damage when she'd been a vampire. Especially, when it had come down to who was going to get to the cure first. But now, everything had changed. "Fair enough," Hope said. Then she added, "I'm always up for a challenge. I'm my father's daughter, after all." "Yes. You are. And I'm sure he'd be proud of you, even if you were to make a few mistakes," she replied. She then looked at the other two. "What about you two?" "The sooner we get out of here, the sooner we can go our separate ways," Lizzie replied. "Let's just get out of here as soon as we can," Josie replied, agreeing. "Then let's go," Kat said. "I say we just choose a direction and start looking. Once we figure out where we actually are, we'll hopefully be able to find a way out. But considering I'm the least favorite person in this group, Hope can lead the way." After Kat said that, they began walking, Kat beside Hope. She always knew that being so easily hurt meant her best option would always be a Mikaelson. And right now, Hope was the only Mikaelson around to protect her if she needed it. Although Kat knew if Hope needed it instead, she'd do anything for Hope. She knew that she owed that to Elijah, Klaus, and Kol at least. The only two Originals she'd been with, and her former enemy. After all, she'd forgiven Klaus a long time ago for what he'd done to her. After they had walked for hours it seemed, they finally came upon a cabin. It was just a cabin with a horse outside, but it had significance only to one person in the group. The only human there. "A horse?" the older twin questioned. "What's all this have to do with getting out of here?" Josie questioned. "This is a part of my past," Kat informed them. "Which part?" Hope inquired, knowing the parts of her past that were written down in a book in the library. "A portion of it that has never been told," Kat replied, and approached the black mustang. Then she rested a hand on top of his muzzle. "It's been a long time, Prince," she greeted him, before saying, "Times were quite different in my day. I wasn't allowed to own anything, but Prince was secretly bought for me by our stablehand. The father of my daughter my father tore away from me as a punishment. Nadia found me when I first became human, but I didn't know who she was until later. I tried to rekindle what we could possibly have, but our lives together were too short for it to happen." She then looked at the door, as the familiar noises from the past came to all of their ears. Katherine remembered it all too well. Hope remembered all the yelling with her family, so she was used to the yelling, but not like this. "Your father and I have more in common than he ever thought before I ever turned," she told Hope. "He's not the only one that didn't have the greatest father. But unlike your grandmother, my mother protected me the best she could. When she couldn't, I took off in the woods with Prince, and I didn't come back for hours." Hope had always known from stories that they were similar, her and the Original hybrid, but she never thought they were that similar. She couldn't imagine how either of them survived such abusive fathers. When the noises stopped, it was silent, so she assumed that it was time, and she walked over, opening the door to the cabin. When she did, it was empty. "Maybe there's something here that'll help us find a way out," she suggested, and headed for a table of books. She hoped there was something useful. She didn't want to be in this cabin any longer than she had to be. Too many painful and terrifying memories growing up. “My father was a Traveler, but stopped practicing when he married my mother, as I was told. Maybe one of his Traveler books will have something that will help us out of whatever place this is,” she added, as she began going through books. The teenagers walked through the door, each going to different sections of the cabin. That’s when, after a few minutes, a couple of them found something important. “I guess you’re more useful than I ever thought,” Hope commented, looking at a page that was useful for when they’d get out. Then she tore out the page and looked at what they were looking at. Kat came over to see that there was definitely a way out. She also saw that Hope had her own page, so she assumed it was something to do with whatever would be waiting for them outside. Eventually, they all found their way out, and because of the page Hope tore out, they were also able to defeat Malivore, and Kat was able to make herself a home at the Salvatore school, helping those that needed it. © 2025 Datherine100 |
