Legacies: Unexpected Traveler Descendant To The Rescue

A Story by Datherine100

Set in Legacies S4, when Aurora was conflicted on whether to be on Hope's side or the God's side. What if Kat intervened?

"

It was a stormy night, as they faced each other, Aurora with the weapon in hand, Hope on the ground. It was made with the ashes that would kill her, if she didn’t get cured in time. She had already cut Hope with it, and there were veins showing now. She was about to kill her with it, but for once in almost a thousand years, she hesitated.

Kat had come back to life, having pretty much leveled with the ferry lady, and was in search of Hope and Aurora. Since she had active Traveler magic, she’d looked in on Hope, so she knew what was going on. She knew she had to save Hope. After all, the Mikaelsons would always be the one family she’d protect if possible.

When she found them and reached them, she stepped between them.

“Don’t even think about it, Aurora,” she warned her. “Enough is enough. Killing Hope won’t make her pay for Klaus or even Elijah’s wrongs against you. Take it from me. You knew me as a vampire. How much hatred and vengeance I had against Klaus, but I forgave him right before I died human because of a cure for vampirism. Vengeance gets you nowhere. It’s satisfying for the briefest of moments, but then you regret it. I’ve had my share of vengeance before, but the difference is I never went vengeful against a teenager. Now, think about what you’re doing. You once loved Niklaus no matter what. You think he’d stand by and do nothing while you kill his only child? He’d kill you for this if he was alive. I won’t let you kill her,” she said.

“It may not be satisfying for long, but at least I’ll get my vengeance. He did things to me. And gave my brother the worst imaginable punishment of all. Now, get out of my way, Katherine.”

“I’m sorry, Aurora, but I can’t do that. I’m honoring Elijah, Klaus and my own daughter. Besides, I’ve changed, just as you’ve adapted to the current times. I won’t let harm come to a child, no matter who the parents are. If you don’t back down, then we’re enemies, and you know better than that to create an enemy out of me.”

“What can you do to me? You’re a human,” the red head replied, not seeing her as much of a threat anymore.

        “Plenty.”

She used her hand to magically toss her away, which made her loose the weapon. Then Kat magically melted the weapon into nothing, nothing left of it.

“I’m descended from Travelers. Now, I have active magic. Thus why I know everything that’s happened. You have two choices. You can suffer his wrath for failing to kill Hope, or you can help me find a way to save her, and risk Alaric locking you in their cell.”

Kat turned around to look at the dying Mikaelson. She then knelt by her, putting an arm around her, helping her up.

        Aurora got to her feet.

“Go ahead, I guess. I’ll distract him. He’ll be here any minute.”

        Kat looked at her.

        “Good idea.”

Hope was weak, as Kat headed for the school with her, and allowed her to help her. Even though she’d been her dad’s enemy, it seemed that she had at least some honor, and had somewhat changed.

After she got to the school, she helped her lay down in her bed upstairs.

“I’ll find a way to save you. Don’t worry. And don’t worry about Aurora. If he doesn’t kill her, Rebekah most likely will once she hears what Aurora has done and tried to do,” she told her. Then she temporarily left, soon coming back with a few things, and sat on her bedside. She then put a damp washcloth on her forehead, before looking through some old books.

“Thanks,” the tribrid replied to her. “Aren’t those Alaric’s?”

“They were in his secret stash, but they’re not all his. Some of this are some journals from people I cared about that might have answers. They must’ve found something back when everyone saw Klaus as the bad guy. Back then, your dad killed people so he could become the hybrid he was meant to be. He even created hybrids of his own. He wasn’t the nicest person, but once he fell for Caroline…let’s just say that he would’ve died for her. Done anything if it meant that she was safe. But she was technically a child back then. She wasn’t ready to accept that she loved him, too. Anyways, back then, everyone wanted to find out what would kill your dad permanently. And we all figured it out. I still hated him, so I helped them go through a bunch of journals,” she explained. “But you can have confidence that I’ll find a way. Even if I have to pull a Freya stunt. Put your essence inside a crystal to prevent you from dying.”

After telling her all of that, she began searching for a cure.

A little bit later, she figured out the cure, so she created it. Then she had the tribrid drink it, which saved her life.

In the end, everyone lived. Ric even let her stay at the school.
