Ch.2: The Past

Kat's POV

        My name is Katherine Pierce. I'm the legend. I've survived running from Klaus for 500 years. I'm one of the most known vampires of all time, and am hated for transgressions I've committed, though I have a few friends still alive. Pearl and Anna, as well as William who sometimes likes to be called Will, instead. Klaus has also, overtime, come to be a friend of mine. It took a long while for Klaus to become like friends to me, though. I'm sure Klaus was mesmerized by me looking exactly like the girl he loved 1,000 years ago that Elijah loved as well, but at the time, he was more of a monster than he is now. He was so obsessed with breaking the spell his mother put on him 1,000 years that made his werewolf side dormant. I believe that his mother was just afraid of the repercussions of Mikael finding out that he was cheated on, so she probably put the spell on Klaus to try and please Mikael. I met Mikael once, but only briefly. He never hurt me, but I know how vicious he can be. There's a reason that Mikael was locked up a long time ago. Mikael is the reason that Klaus had to become strong, because Mikael has and never will be Klaus' father. Mikael hasn't earned the right, but Klaus calls him his father, anyway. The reason for that is because Mikael has hurt Klaus in only ways that a father can. He's tormented and abused him so much that it has taken 1,000 years for Klaus to regain what is left of his humanity, and to learn to love again without needing to run from Mikael, much less needing to protect those he cares about from Mikael. How did Klaus and I finally become friends, you may ask? We have become friends throughout these couple of years that we've had to have each other's backs, but also because of some certain dangers that we've had to work with one another to get rid of. I'm glad that he's my friend now, though. I'm a vampire, after all. I do have a few werewolf enemies, so if I get bitten, Klaus is the only one that can save me. That is, if it's not too late. One bite will kill a vampire within 24 hours, but more than one bite will give a vampire less than that. Because of that, I'm one of the few lucky vampires.
