The 80's

The 80's

A Poem by David Dodsworth
"

memories of happy times

"

The 80’s were great I loved ever minute

The music the fashion yes I was there in it

I wore baggy pants and big frilly shirts

My girlfriend back then wore a short ra ra skirt

The music was great and the dances were frantic

Turned from a punk and now new romantic

Winkle picker shoes and I even wore spats

Old dinner suits and some very strange hats

Electronic music new on the scene

Gelling my hair to give it a sheen

Haircuts from hell we thought they were great

I even used crimpers oh no what a state

Apart from the music the clothes and the hair

The 80’s were special and this I will share

Youth clubs and discos for under 18’s

To prepare for the nightclubs cashing in on the scene

Looking back now brings a smile to my face

I loved the 80’s I thought they were ace
