What Beyond Lies

What Beyond Lies

A Poem by David-Tyler

I could tell she was tired by the vacant look in her eyes
Who knows what beyond lies
Is it the truth, is it the stars forming a sacred world
That whole girl is a new possibility come uncurled

Come out, come out, come out tonight
I'm begging you, let's do this right
I only get you for the rest of our lives, and what comes after
I hope in my next life I remember your smile and your laughter

The wind in all its might, helpless in your hair
Oh how the world trembles in your stare
You stole my heart and my desire, I'll never get them back
But at a least I know the rest of my life will have nothing to lack

Oh, I got everything right in my arms
Ensnared by your temptress charms
If only you knew you carried the universe in your curves
The cute ways you find to get on my very last nerves

I drove my whole summer break
Just for my sake
Because I'm only whole when we're eye to eye
I'm only alive in the midnight hour you sleepily sigh

Your lips speak the life into my soul
When you say you love me, you rebuild me whole
I'll always be there to hold you when you're cold
Because I'm not who I am without you to break my mold

Come out, come out, come out tonight
I'm begging you, let's do this right
Who knows what beyond that starry eyed gaze lies
Oh, naturally brown like nature's trees, spiraling yellow like lightning, I'm on my knees

About
I post my worst work here to get constructive criticism. I'm critical of other people because that's what's helpful. I won't make anything personal until you do. I'm not here for drama, fights, or oth.. more..
