Chapter One

Chapter One of my short story "The Stranger".

CHAPTER ONE

The room was draped in an aquatic light when I arose. Dawn was breaking in. I stiffed up from my bed, and threw the blankets off of me. The bed creaked with low groans as I maneuvered to rise up from it. I felt my eyelids were heavy with an air of tiredness, wanting to succumb to the pressure to snap shut and return to sleep.
