The Stag in WinterA Story by DayranThe Autumnal Legends Series : I' If truth be known a man would want to be just like everybody else.' That's one of my own … I don't recall it being said that way in other writings. I therefore figure it inevitable that our lives in the world are and will be governed by such a theme. My conviction is that everybody knows this about themselves.
As we ponder on the future at the beginning of the 21st century I figure, we may be wondering how we will achieve that about ourselves. A thought or dream or imagination is seldom a true presentation of the actual achievement.
To be born in the life, in the body that we occupy, in the place that we live is a unique act never imitated by anyone else … nor dreamt. But we always begin with the dream. The tale of the elves in our fairy stories provides a glimpse into the mystery of shoes … which I expect, when worn brings the night's dreams into reality in our speech and actions.
To be well heeled is to be well endowed with a fortitude and understanding of issues. On the other hand an injury to the heel … like an Archilles or Vasudeva … would mean the conclusion of the achievements contained in that experience of dream and life. Life moves on from there and the human content of the experience comes to a greater understanding of life.
A distance between two points of achievement is measured with respect to the significance of the journey. A person undertaking that journey arrives at the destination to find that the significance of the act is about himself not the destination itself. In that we come to understand the incredibly rigorous nature of human knowledge … it relies on thought and expresses it in action … thereafter it seeks to affirm that thought.
Ironically, action is difficult to perform without a willful belief in the thought and yet when the action is completed we realize the assumed nature of our original thought and thereafter affirm its factual nature from our act. Its appears whimsical on occasion and we forced to shy our rational natures. Such an achievement therefore relies on the confidence and resilience of the individual … but more than that it relies on his good nature.
For the traveler a fair weather may be everything. We do hope for it … but know that it may be in the nature of a privilege. The great bellow of the stag in the forest does not seek to provoke challengers merely to affirm his assumptions. © 2013 Dayran |
